River Gilpin at Valley End

Why stay here ...

Trying to find a handy Cumbria stopover close to main roads or a useful base for a longer break spent exploring the southern part of the Lake District National Park? Either way, if you're a Caravan and Motorhome Club member, River Gilpin at Valley End Certificated Location would be a sound choice.

This small site is a quiet place with just a handful of touring pitches, all of which have electric hook up as well as lovely scenic views. Shared facilities include wifi, an outdoor washing-up area and a smart toilet and shower block.

Just inside the boundaries of the Lake District National Park, this is a semi-rural location with easy access from the A590 and A5074. The village of Levens is just over a mile away – but more importantly the local pub is pretty much next door (and it's a popular one too, with a menu of locally sourced food as well as a good range of drinks).

With several walking trails in the area around Levens, this is a good base for exploring some of the local scenery; there are also a couple of historic houses very close by, or you can get to the shores of Windermere with a 15-minute drive.
