Great little off grid site in extremely scenic location

Blades Farm
Picturesque trip from Hawes to site , easy to find and site campervan. Hardstanding area and grass. Located in valley surrounded by beautiful hills. We walked our dogs around the farmer's fields with his permission. Would recommend for those looking for cheap, off grid, Yorkshire Dales experience.

great views & value for money

Blades Farm
Can be some what of an adventure on the 'A' road i.e. narrow, sharp bends etc but that all adds to the attraction. The views are just lovely and apart from one low flying jet very peaceful. The grass was very long so took advantage of the hardstanding area. The book say's "TV reception fair" however I couldn't get any TV or radio reception in the van or car. Wouldn't normally mind but it was the Euro football final!

A pleasure to find a basic CL

Blades Farm
The site is set slightly off the road, which reduces any noise. (In fact, there's very little, and none at night) Like all CLs it has a water tap and toiled emptying point (Plentifully supplied with hand-sanitising kit) The farmer is immensely friendly and welcoming. Thank goodness for no hardstandings, no regimented rows, and no other mini-club site organisation. The grass isn't a mown lawn but there's no problem coping with it. Beautiful views of the hills, which changed with the time of day and weather. Within reach, by car, of places of interest. Garsdale Head Station isn't far away, so access to the Settle Carlisle railway line. Sedburgh is a delightful town with plenty of shops and places to eat. Walks available from site. I understand there are 400 CLs which are off the grid. It would be great if the Caravan Club could put these in their own section for those of us who love the old-fashioned way of camping and don't need a constant supply of electricity. We've got two solar roof panels and an extra-large leisure battery for charging our bike batteries, which is all we really need electricity for. Life can be lived without it. Thank you Mr Todd. Long may you last.

Get away from it all

Blades Farm
Great site, visited twice in 2019. It's set on a working farm and the owner is friendly and welcoming. Beautiful scenery in the less-visited western part of the Yorkshire Dales, Just a super place to sit and relax. Water tap and waste dump all easy to use. The field is slightly undulating but I've not needed to use levelling blocks. There is a bit of noise from the road (mainly the odd high speed biker) but not enough to detract from the site. The grass is quite long as it managed more like a field than a garden which isn't a problem for me but might not be for those who like a manicured site. Sedbergh is a lovely town with an interesting mill on the outskirts with artist's studios and there is a stunning drive up to Kirkby Stephen from there. Shap Abbey is also beautiful and worth a visit- again far from the madding crowds of the Lake District and Wensleydale. Look forward to returning in 2020.
