Why stay here ...

Our site is set in the heart of the countryside between Dale Abbey and Stanton by Dale, but conveniently just a few minutes’ drive from junction 25 of the M1. A beautiful location where you can relax and unwind.

From the site there are numerous walks and bridleways to explore. A short walk up the lane will take you to the licenced tea rooms serving breakfast and a varied afternoon menu. The beautiful village of Dale Abbey offers a dog-friendly country pub serving ales and food, and is a place of historical interest where you can visit the hermits cave and the Abbey ruins. The village of Stanton by Dale has a bus route between Sandiacre and Ilkeston and has two public houses both of which are dog friendly. All these locations are within walking distance of the site.

Derby City Centre is within six miles and Nottingham Castle within ten miles where there is plenty to see and do. Further afield is the Peak District and places of interest such as Buxton, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Matlock Bath.

Our site is set in a peaceful location where you can sit and listen to the birds singing and hopefully catch a glimpse of the wildlife including buzzards, rabbits, foxes and pheasants. New for 2021 is a dog exercise field for the exclusive use of CL guests and a picnic site with bench for each pitch. We hope you will enjoy your stay at our lovely haven.

Great place

Just spent Bank Holiday weekend here and will definitely return. Lovely site, and well placed for lovely walks. Exercise field a real bonus for the dogs. Very friendly owners, who have obviously put a lot of time and effort into the site and it is very much appreciated.

Perfect!

Moorfield Farm Barn had been recommended by a friend as a great location to spend time walking with our dogs. The site is beautifully kept with a large secure paddock for the dogs away from other residents for exercise/toileting with bin provided. Lesley and Ady are on hand if needed but happy for you to arrive and pitch up yourselves. The area has lots of footpaths with some local features - the Hermitage and Locko Park as two we visited. We ate out at the Cowshed and the Carpenters Arms on the way back from our walks and would recommend both. TV signal great - a must that weekend due to the Line of Duty Finale! Easy to find and good spaces between all pitches ( all electric) but make sure you have chocks for levelling! We will go back. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Peace and quiet

This has to be the most peaceful CL we have ever stayed on. Lesley and Adrian go that extra mile to welcome you and make sure that you are ok. Yes the pitches are on a slope so you will need ramps but easy enough to level up. Water on each pitch and all facilities were well looked after. Clearly a site run by owners who care. This can't be said for every CL we have used. Certainly recommend the site.I Cowshed just up the road good for breakfast and coffee/cake. The site is also handy for The motorway. I would recommend using No Mans Lane for final approach.

Lovely peaceful spot

We spent 3 nights here over the bank holiday. Very good communication from Lesley prior to arrival and both were very welcoming when we arrived. A lot of effort has been put into the site including finishing touches and decorations. Facilities were great, very clean and accessible. The area is very peaceful. As others have said, The Cowshed is definitely worth a visit for food and it's a lovely walk through Hermits Forrest to the Abbey. There are lots of paths around and the area is good for both walking and cycling. Levelling blocks are required. I would definitely recommend this CL.

A great stay

We have just got back from a 3 night stay. We had the place to ourselves Mon and Tues. We did 2 local walks - the Abbey walk through Hermits Wood is nice and the Hermitage (Hermit's Cave) was well worth seeing. We also went to Ilam although that was very crowded. Site facilities are all excellent and we had good mobile signal. All in all a great stay.
