Welcome to Upper Hartshay Farm.

We are situated within the small quiet village of Upper Hartshay, within easy reach of the market towns of Belper & Ripley, which offer many shops, supermarkets, real ale pubs & local produce restaurants.

The farm has phenomenal far reaching views looking towards the magnificent monument of Crich Stand (The Sherwood Foresters War Memorial). During nightfall the Stands beacon of light can be seen in the distance.

The farm is a great base for many local attractions/eateries: Heage Windmill, Belper River Gardens, Belper Ritz Cinema, Midland Railway Butterley, Crich Tramway Museum, Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, Carsington Water, Cromford Mill, Haddon Hall, Chatsworth, Matlock Bath, Gullivers Kingdom Theme Park, Horsley Lodge Golf Club, Morley Hayes Golf Club, Black Boy Inn, Nonno's Italian Restaurant.

Well behaved dogs are welcome. We have a short walk on site which leads onto larger walks within the area, allowing you to take advantage of the glorious views especially on a beautiful day.

Close to the end of our lane is the bus stop. Busses go to Ripley, Belper, Derby, Matlock, Bakewell and other surrounding areas. Within easy reach we have the local train stations of Ambergate and Belper offering access to other areas should you wish to take advantage of local transport.

Peaceful and Welcoming

Stunning views, warm welcome by Ruth. Immacately kept. The children and dog were made to feel very welcome and the dog walk was very pleasant, overlooking the valley. Buses frequent and easy to use. Drivers very friendly and helpful. Ripley within easy walking distance. On a rainy day we played badminton and went swimming at Ripley Leisure Centre and as a bonus made use of the showers! Crich Tramway Museum definitely worth a visit. Had a great time at this site despite the rainy weather.

Peaceful Stay

My review is a little late, we visited for 5 nights at the end of the last May Bank Holiday. Beautiful, clean and well set out site. Warm welcome from Ruth and Ian which was nice. Electric operated security gates gives piece of mind when on/off the site and welcomed. When we arrived the grass on the side pitches was a little long, but not an issue Ian kindly mowed the following morning which was helpful for setting up our awning. Lots of places of interest within easy driving distance include Carssington Water, Poole's Cavern, Buxton to name a few. There is a convenience store within a 20 minute or so walk and by car there is Morrison's and Sainsbury's. On the site, it's peaceful and the scenery is really stunning, perfect location to switch off and relax. The rubbish, water and waste area is nicely fenced off and kept immaculate. Recycling facilities too. Ruth is a fountain of knowledge of good places to go including local places to eat/drink, we went to a pub she recommended on our 1st night and was a really good choice. One useful word of warning though, the site info does say arrival after 1pm, it's a good idea to follow that because the access in from the main road is a single track road to the electric gates - there is no room for passing vehicles so if you try to arrive early be warned one person will HAVE to reverse. It's also worth bearing in mind that coming from Ripley direction the CL sign does come upon you quite quickly (you come over the bridge over the main A road as on the directions provided and round a sweeping bend and the turning is just beyond a stone wall. Interestingly there is no CL sign coming from the other direction. Would have no hesitation returning to Upper Hartshay, the warm welcome and lovely site and bonus of their beautiful dogs which we had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you for a lovely relaxing stay. We look forward to seeing you again in the not too distance future Ruth & Ian

What a cracker

Just returned from a 3 night stay and must say a big thanks to Ruth on running a beautiful c/like. With stunning views and 4 large hard standing pitches you can't go wrong, as stated by previous members the pitches aren't level but we'll worth it if you carry blocks and a ramp. The waste area is super clean and tidy and being behind the newly installed electric gates felt very secure. thanks again ruth

Gem of a CL!

We spent eight nights here recently and received a lovely warm welcome from Ruth after our journey down from Scotland. The waste and water points were excellent and the best we've ever seen. As others have mentioned the pitches aren't level, but as long as you have levelling ramps, this is not a problem. We chose this site as it was handy for us to visit our motorhome dealer in nearby Awsworth. We can thoroughly recommened this site, Ruth couldn't have been more helpful and we will certainly be back.

Delightful site

The site is just off the A38 and so access is very easy. Whilst the pitches are not level, as long as you have a leveling block with you it is not a problem. Good 16A supply. Ruth was very helpful and we had an enjoyable stay. Just down the road is a Co-Op with petrol station so easy to get things like milk and bread and to fill up with fuel before heading for home.
