Barnstaple Certificated Locations

Barnstaple is the largest town in north Devon and is a major draw for visitors to the region.

The historic town dates back to 930 AD and played a key role in helping to defeat the Spanish Armada. Visitors can find out more about the town at the Barnstaple Heritage Centre. This attraction is housed in a Grade 1 listed building and looks back at the rich and varied history of Barnstaple.

Cyclists are drawn to Barnstaple to explore Tarka Country and complete part of the 180-mile Tarka Trail - a series of footpaths and cycleways that retrace the steps of the famous fictional otter.

It is a great way to see the attractive Devon countryside and there are plenty of tempting cafes and tea rooms along the way to stop for a bite to eat.
