An Essex Haven

Lower Barn Farm
A lovely site, flat, peaceful - we could see the vehicles on the B road through a gap in the hedge but couldn't hear them - and surrounded by trees. There was a steady breeze blowing from the estuary which was a relief as we arrived in the middle of a heatwave. Pitches are generously sized and each comes with its own tap. Each pitch is numbered and names are up on a board by the gate so you know exactly where to park. The rest of the facilities are all housed by the entrance in or by a very clean and well-kept shed. There is an abundance of wildlife with house martins swooping over the well-mown grass, sea birds calling behind us in the estuary and owls at night. Not only is it easy to reach everywhere by road, which we did driving and cycling, but there is a footpath which in one direction goes through the estuary to the Naze and in the other to Beaumont - cum- Moze. Communications are excellent and the owners very accommodating, especially when we had to leave unexpectedly early, they couldn't have been kinder. I hope we will be able to return here to finish our exploration of Essex in the future.

Another well deserved covid break

Lower Barn Farm
Our second visit to this CL. Really ideal for exploring the area but far enough away from the hustle of the towns. Easy to get to Clacton, Walton on Naze,, Harwich, and a handy Caravan dealership and shop at Weeley within easy reach. And the owners very welcoming and will be back again when time permits. . .

A well deserved covid break

Lower Barn Farm
Contacted site easily and all booked. Made very welcome on arrival which was easy for us to find site.. Apparently we were the first motorhome to visit the site with its new owners. Great for visiting Clacton Weeley, Walton on Naze,, Frinton, Harwich and more. A few miles from site but all within easy reach. Site well laid out with easy waste emptying at a level that wont break your backs. All pitches clearly marked with your names. Also a pleasant stroll along the creek which apparently is a haven for a rare moth. Pleasant owners and quiet site apart from the occasional bikes heard from the main road barely visible from the field. Well done to new owners for keeping the CL open. NB the site as of now is open for bookings, its just waiting for the caravan clun to update this webpage. I ask myself why did I give this review, and why did i not keep it to myself. Well done again to owners.

Perfect CL

Lower Barn Farm
Congratulations to the new owners and their young son Hector (Trainee Manager!) of this large yet peaceful CL. We had a lovely warm welcome for our first outing after lockdown and with the well kept level Lawn, sanitising station next to taps and waste, they were ready for us! The location is ideal to visit the local beaches, a few minutes walk away you have the historic Beaumont Quay with ancient lime kiln and a quayside constructed with the stones taken from the original London Bridge, recycling even then in 1869!! The remains of an old barge still visible in the old quay basin. Plenty of walks with wildlife and also enjoyed an easy 15 mile traffic free bike ride from Frinton to Jaywick Route 51. (Plenty of cafes and toilets en route! ) Would most definitely recommend this CL and will return!
