Why stay here ...

Meadow Bank Farm is located in Netley Marsh, a small village to the west of Southampton on the A336 Ringwood Road.

The site is situated at the end of a long driveway off the Ringwood Road, which can be found about 100 yards past The New Forest Motor Company, a small second hand car dealer business.

The location is ideal, being about 2 miles from junction 2 on the M27 and a 5 minute drive to enter the New Forest, yet only 20 minutes away from Southampton City Centre. There is a local pub, The White Horse within a 5 minute walk from the site and a Morrisons superstore is a 5 minute drive. The local shops in Totton are quite comprehensive and are about 5 minutes away by car.

The nearest beach is a 25 minute drive at Leepe Country Park, an ideal dog walking area with lovely views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. Calshot is a similar distance away. More sandy beaches can be found along the coast towards Bournmouth, for example, Highcliffe which can be reached in about 30 minutes.

The site is set in a 4 acre open meadow and is quite flat. There are 5 hardstandings, plus the options of grass pitches in good weather. All have 10 amp electric hook up points.

Facilities include the use of a shower, toilet and sink with hot and cold water taps. There is also a washing maching available for a small extra charge. There is a chemical toilet emptying closet and there are 2 separate drinking water taps. Waste and recycling bins are available.

The meadow has a mown path around the perimeter which guests are welcome to use – ideal for a bit of early morning exercise or a dog walk!

The current owners, Tim & Catherine Hood purchased the property in May 2016, having moved down from the Midlands. The CL site was run successfully for many years, but following a period of tenancy the site went downhill and eventually closed in 2014. So Tim and Catherine are in the process of restoring and redeveloping the site for themselves and the benefit of visitors. Catherine is a therapist/Nutritionist and has a small therapy room offering aromatherapy massage and other holistic treatments including colonic hydrotherapy as well as nutritional advice to clients. Caravaners are welcome to take advantage of this facility if they so wish.

The site is open all year round and well behaved children and dogs are welcome!

Tim & Catherine Hood.

A convenient and accessible site with a calm ambience

We only found this site in 2019 but have stayed there several weekends and, at times, in the week also. It is so convenient to connections to the M27 at Junction 2 and also to local essential facilities. Yet it is peaceful and calm and very pleasant to stay on all day if you wish. If not then Southampton is 7 miles, Beaulieu about 9miles and Lymington about 12 miles. And in between? - 360 square miles of the New Forest where you can get away from everybody by walking 500 yards from any car park, and walking miles in beautiful scenery. We will definitely go back for these reasons and for the warm welcome provided by Catherine and Tim, who both go out of their way to be helpful.

A gem of a site

We have just spent another very enjoyable few days at this site. We have family in the area and had been trying to find somewhere to stay when we visit them and this is just the perfect location. We had tried other sites in the area previously but we found this to be far superior. It is a site with hard and grass standing which the owners are in the process of developing. As well as there being a shower (very clean and very hot...lovely!) a washer, dryer (even a clothes line) available for the use of caravanners, there is a lovely walkway around the site, incorporating a labyrinth and an area with seating underneath some trees, which our grandchildren loved. They also loved the fairy corner and the two beautiful horses (gentle giants) housed in a paddock on the site. If you are interested in alternative therapies then a number of these are available on the site, one of which I have promised myself that I will avail myself of during our next visit! It was very useful to be given, on our arrival on our first visit, a very detailed sheet giving information of where everything was located on the site. Also local Dr's numbers, the location of the nearest supermarket, even where the nearest fish and chip shop was! All valuable information and not often given on a CL site. We have enjoyed our stays there and are so glad to have at last found somewhere that we like so much. We were there last week and were amazed at how much has developed since Christmas time. It is a gem of a place and if you are planning a trip to Hampshire then this site truly is worth a visit. You won't be disappointed

Great for the ferry

We stayed here for a weekend in August prior to catching the ferry to France. Owners were friendly and helpful. As said in a previous review be careful approaching as the site is not well signposted from the road. Facilities were clean and well presented. Spacious pitches and quiet. Well positioned for visiting Portsmouth, Southampton and other local attractions. We enjoyed our brief stay and will return in the future.

What a disappointment

Stopped off here for just the one night after our return from France and after reading such positive reviews were looking forward to our rest at this CL. What a let down. We were met at the gate by the owner who politely said he was busy but showed us to a hardstanding area squeezed between two caravans. The area in front of us was grass but was mostly taken up by a large caravan with a large awning. The so called hardstanding area was large stone, lumpy and wholly unsuitable for an awning had we wanted to put one up. Whatever happened to the 4 acre open meadow????? A joke!! The sloppy, haphazard manner in which the units were thrown together was quite inexplicable and unnecessary. We were very pleased to leave and will not be returning.

Handy for Ferry

Lovely little site , hardstanding pitches , lovely clean facilities and friendly people . Short drive to Red funnel terminal (southampton) for I-O-W ferry . Only word of caution is to approach site entrance slowly as entrance not prominently signposted due to overgrown hedges by main road (I nearly turned in too early into cul de sac) . Bumpy drive , so go slowly , then security gates at bottom (great for peace of mind)
