Lovely site

Balmers
Stayed in late August 2019. Site entrance easy to miss, gate in hedge. I hadn't been able to locate the site on google maps, probably as its down a green lane, which google doesn't recognise, I've since added it to google to help fellow travellers. Green field site with a lot of space, but people all head to the sunny side of the field. lots of blackberries in the hedgerow whilst we were there. There is access to the Ridgeway path by following the track to the right of the horse field, lovely views and open countryside. Via the small park opposite Balmers entrance you can get to the pub, an amazing play park or village community shop by going straight on. If you follow the path to the right and head past the school you come into Tring Park, there's a great scenic walk over to Tring (about 20 minutes), there are steep sections and a spiral stepped motorway bridge. Once on the other side there is the Natural History overflow museum, entry is free and our granddaughter loved it. At Great Missenden 10 miles away is the Roadl Dahl Museum and Story Centre another great day out. 30 minutes away is Warner Brothers Harry Potter tour, this must be pre booked, especially during school holidays. Excellent simple CL

Balmers
Simple site on edge of village with good pub (5 mins walk). Site has water and black waste dump but no electric hook-up. Grass pitches in well maintained field - some shade available. Location is peaceful although is a little aircraft noise (hard to escape in south east England) but certainly not intrusive. Decent value at £7 per night (May 19). Excellent cycling in the area.

A lovely CL.

Very neat and tidy site. Some aircraft noise as under a flight path but not intrusive and doesn't detract from the fact that this is a lovely place to spend a break. Access to the Ridgeway national trail is close by and this area of the Chilterns is a walkers paradise.

Little Gem

Balmers
Just back from a peaceful 8 night stay at this lovely cl. We searched the club website for a basic cl near Aylesbury (we prefer the quieter basic sites) and after reading the online reviews, we decided to go for this one. We were not disappointed. Everything was exactly as described in the earlier reviews. The owner was very welcoming and pleasantly chatted about the many local places of interest. The main reason for our visit was a concert at the lovely Waterside theatre in Aylesbury. We had originally planned an overnight stay in Aylesbury but due to hubby spraining his ankle, we decided to take the van and stay for longer. So glad we did as hubby's ankle nearly better now (and he managed to sit still long enough to finish reading one of his books). Needless to say, we were a bit restricted this time in getting out and about but we will definitely be back, next time with bikes and walking boots. A lovely well kept site and still only £6 a night!
