Great CL

Heskin Old Hall Farm
What a lovely peaceful site. Loads of birds singing in the trees. Mrs Cooper was very welcoming. Very apologetic when I booked as she could only get us in for 1 night. We would happily go back to explore the area. Great walk through the woods right next to the site.

Nice site but can be noisy

Heskin Old Hall Farm
We stayed here in June 2021 after hard standings had been installed. The material used is a little coarse (ground up rubble) but should smooth off in time. A very warm and friendly welcome from the owner, Mrs Cooper,. Some very accessible footpaths in the area. Both Mawdesley and Eccleston have pubs, restaurants and shops. The price is very low bearing in mind it includes electricity. Disposal of toilet, grey waste water and dry waste is easy and well signed. Please be aware though that the site has a couple of wandering peacocks. They don't come on site but come very close and are quite vocal throughout the day, starting at 4.30 am in our experience. We also had the misfortune of having a neighbour who not only filled a 6 foot diameter paddling pool but used the sites water and electricity to pressure wash his caravan. The supply pipe was attached to the drinking water supply for a couple of hours. Can members be so thoughtless? Or am I being too critical?

A hidden gem close to so many delightful attractions.

Heskin Old Hall Farm
We arrived with a warm welcome from Mrs Cooper, who gave an update on what she had done during lockdown. Four level hardstandings have been created giving easy siting. The ehu’s are easily accessed and offer 6amp power which ran our fridge freezer, tv and lights. The site is adjacent to three fishing lakes that you can wander round at leisure. There are comprehensive recycling facilities and two toilets for the CL usage. Around the CL, children and adults can enjoy seeing the Alpacas, donkeys, horses and peacocks. We enjoyed the adjacent woodland walk which leads to other opportunities to use access to both Mawdesley and Eccleston villages. You can also find numerous paths to take longer walks. Within five miles of the site there are three interesting attractions, Heskin Hall craft centre and cafe, Bygone Times, antique centre is a fascinating place with many stalls etc and Cedar Farm craft centre where a monthly farmers market is held. Ruffled Old Hall is NT house with a good history and a little further away is Southport (20 miles) Lytham St Anne’s and Blackpool for seaside resorts. We could only spend one night to try out our van after lockdown but we definitely return for a longer stay soon as it is a great place to escape and enjoy the area.

A lovely CL on a working farm

Heskin Old Hall Farm
Just returned from a lovely relaxing bank holiday weekend stay on a quiet working farm. The site is well maintained and the facilities clean (two toilets with cold running water) electric hookup, fresh water and chemical waste. There's a fishery adjacent to the site and fees are about £5. The site is close to Chorley with a great farmer's market/craft fair centre, near to Rufford old hall and within easy access to Liverpool.
