Lincolnshire has a wealth of history. To start your stay, why not visit the market place and church of Donington, where Matthew Flinders was born. He was a British Navigator, who led the first inshore navigation of mainland Australia. He was educated at Cowley Academy School, his statue stands in the market square of Donington.
In July 2024, the Matthew Flinders reburial event will be taking place in Donington church and Donington market place. The village of Donington will hoste a long weekend of events. Come along and be part of this historical occasion.
A visit to Boston, which has a long and significant history, was one of the most powerful ports in England. At St Botolph’s Parish of Boston (Boston Stump), is the tallest parish church (83 metres high).
Lincolnshire is a must for Aircraft Enthusiast’s. Nearby places to visit include The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, RAF Coningsby Air Force Base (25 mins away), Duxford Airfield/ Imperial War Museum, Cambridge.
The wash is one of Europe’s most special places for wildlife, visit RSPB Frampton Marsh, and Freiston Shore for excellent views of birds/wildlife (do not forget your Binoculars).
The Lincolnshire Wolds is an area of outstanding natural beauty with pretty market towns, family activities and numerous walks to enjoy.
