Lincolnshire has a wealth of history. To start your stay, why not visit the market place and church of Donington, where Matthew Flinders was born. He was a British Navigator, who led the first inshore navigation of mainland Australia. He was educated at Cowley Academy School, his statue stands in the market square of Donington.

In July 2024, the Matthew Flinders reburial event will be taking place in Donington church and Donington market place. The village of Donington will hoste a long weekend of events. Come along and be part of this historical occasion.

A visit to Boston, which has a long and significant history, was one of the most powerful ports in England. At St Botolph’s Parish of Boston (Boston Stump), is the tallest parish church (83 metres high).

Lincolnshire is a must for Aircraft Enthusiast’s. Nearby places to visit include The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, RAF Coningsby Air Force Base (25 mins away), Duxford Airfield/ Imperial War Museum, Cambridge.

The wash is one of Europe’s most special places for wildlife, visit RSPB Frampton Marsh, and Freiston Shore for excellent views of birds/wildlife (do not forget your Binoculars).

What a lovely find

Corner Cottage
Had a lovely welcome from Martin & Debbie who assured us it was OK to drive on their immaculate grass. The site was easily accessed down a lane and the gate was open on our arrival. We stayed for one night to break up our journey and wouldn’t hesitate to return in future. We left with some magnificent eggs. Many thanks.

The Good Life

Corner Cottage
We had a lovely overnight stay at Corner Cottage on our way further south. It was so relaxing to drive into a gorgeous CL site with the sight of an amazing garden which grew everything you could imagine. Martin and Debbie were so welcoming. We were able to buy their tasty produce and the eggs from their hens were the best I have ever had. Very happy with our stay and our supply of honey from their hive, raspberry and gooseberry ham, brambles, courgettes, beetroot and tomatoes. It was such a lovely environment to recharge after a day at work.
