Small but Perfectly Formed

Heath Barn
Lovely little site. It's basic but well maintained, cut grass. The Greyhound pub is 3/4 mile walk but be sure to check they have a table, food is excellent or Catfield Crown a short drive but also good. Plenty of Norfolk Broads sights nearby Potter Heigham, Wroxham, Horning, Ludham. How Hill, Thurne Dyke etc. Excellent value

And Relax....

Heath Barn
What a gem... in fact so much so I'm reluctant to post! Peaceful site, walking distance to Hickling Broad/local pub. Only 3 miles to lovey beaches. Loads of dog walks from site. Owners really pleasant people. Very relaxed site. Currently on site, looking for dates we can return!

A Gem For Accessing the Norfolk Broads

Heath Barn
The location is easy to find, clearly signposted from the road. The site is dead-level; as you'd expect in the Broads and although quite tight for five caravans, there is still more space than on an official Caravan and Motorhome Site. We were welcomed by Keith who happily gave us all the necessary information (local pubs, dog walks, shops for milk and groceries, nearest fuel station) and then left us to settle in. There are some excellent walks in the area, and the roads are lovely and quiet - ideal for cycling. The Norfolk Wildlife Trust Reserve at Hickling Broad is well worth a visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be using it as a base for further visits to the Norfolk Broads.

£15/night with EHU, elsan and fresh water. Absolutely wonderful little site which allowed us to break our journey following a visit to Horsey Gap to view seals.

Well kept compact site, good location

Heath Barn
We stayed here for 10 nights in late September 2020. This is a very compact CL. The owner has sensibly reduced the number of units to four, to allow for decent space between vans during the Covid pandemic. Mr & Mrs Elliott are very friendly and welcoming. Hand sanitising spray is provided close to the service point. Good water pressure, plenty of bins (including recycling). TV reception was non-existent for us with our omni-directional built in aerial, but a separate aerial on a pole might possibly achieve some reception. WiFi (BT with a password, provided) was Ok on a laptop but dropped out frequently and could not be found on our older iPhone or iPad. The CL is well sheltered by trees and hedges, but in the event of gales it would be sensible not to park too close to the trees on the far side of the field from the entrance – we had set up our caravan well out from the edge, but in a big storm we still had many small branches torn off the trees and hitting the roof of the van. There is a pub on the edge of Hicking Broad within a 10 – 15 minute walk. Basic pub grub but a good garden with views of boats and water. We had laundry done at a service wash laundrette in Wroxham. There is a Tesco supermarket plus fuel at Stalham, about 10 minute drive away. The location is good for visiting Broads attractions - Wroxham / Hoveton for boat hire and trips and the famous Roys Department store and excellent supermarket is 12 miles South West; Norwich (which has a Park & Ride service) is 18 miles SW; Great Yarmouth (if you like that sort of thing - amusement arcades with a pier but brilliant sandy beach) is 16 miles South; Horsey Broad (NT - Wind Pump, seal colony and bird watching) is 7 miles away. There are many attractive Broads in the area where access to the water can be found by following any sign containing the word “Staithe”. With research there are excellent pubs to be found – many close to water. We ate out at several of these and also visited the Station Smoke House at Hoveton which is heaven for meat lovers. Portions are HUGE. As we have found elsewhere it is unfortunate that some members still feel it acceptable to allow their dog(s) to roam freely off the lead on a CL. We did not enjoy discovering the resultant deposit behind our van, by the water carrier....
