Cracking CL well worth visiting

Just back from 5 nights at Marfit Head Farm (Wed 9th - Mon 14th Sept 2020). What a cracking CL it is on a working dairy farm. Access into the site is easy via the wide entrance off the main road (take care going over the Cattle Grid). On arrival we were warmly met by Mrs Hodgson and given a detailed map and list of Covid-19 do's and don'ts. The pitches are grass (slightly sloped) and of a very generous size with EHU. There are three fields to chose from, the smaller CL field which is adjacent to the main road; the Top Field and the Back Field. We chose the Back Field as the conifer tree's provided a barrier to the road noise - not a complaint, purely an observation as the road is a main 'A' road to/from Whitby and is busy during the day and early evening; the traffic is light at night and didn't cause us any lost sleep. There is ready access to a number of water points and the Chem Waste point. The back Field provides lovely views and it was nice watching the families herd of Cows winding their way to/from the Milking Parlour twice a day. There are a number of very tame Chickens who wander freely about the farm and camping fields (one especially is cheeky enough to invite herself into your van if you don't watch out for her). There's easy access to Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay & Scarborough from the site (NOTE: the site is incorrectly marked on the CAMC Website map - it's actually a mile or so prior to the currently shown location. I've emailed CAMC asking them to amend this). There are also plenty of walks close by (don't miss a walk down into the Hole of Horcum). Overall a lovely CL in a beautiful part of the country. We will definitely be back in 2021.

Better in the back field!

We stayed here for 6 nights in the back field as the CL area was full. Glad we did as there was much more room and the road was a bit further away. Friendly people, good Covid precautions, easy access. Good base for the beautiful surrounding countryside and coast. Road noise and rural smells were a bit of an issue but we still enjoyed our stay.

Perfectly adequate for overnight stay

We stayed two nights touring in our motorhome on this site. The CL field is close to the busy main road so for us this wouldn't be a first choice site. Having said that everything we needed and very friendly folk running it. Lots for children, animals and play area though not available at Covid time. We probably wouldn't stay again because of traffic noise we're not used to.

First CL - Great

Just got back from 6 nights on this site, our first CL. Having looked at plenty of CL's previously we think we hit the jackpot here. Others have mentioned the road noise and I have to admit the adjoining road is very busy hence only 3 ticks for peace and tranquility, after a couple of days though the road noise didn't bother us. Pleasant greeting on arrival, the only downside was the adjoining farmer had been spraying his field, the smell was awful and lasted for a couple of days, had it lasted longer I doubt that we would have stayed. We live in a rural area so are used to this happening but it does limit you in a caravan when you can't open a window let alone sit outside. The facilities at the site are excellent, cleaned daily and always spotless which speaks volumes for the owner in view of the fact that you have to walk through a farmyard to get to them. All in all the site was excellent and we will return. The location was ideal for us, plenty of walks nearby and easy access to the coast. We'll be back.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for your review and we are so pleased you loved the site. We have spoken to the CL owners who want to assure everyone that you don't need to walk through the farmyard to get to the facilities. The toilets and wash block are next to the farmyard and there's no need to walk through the farmyard to get to them. We hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Fab 2 weeks!!

We had a fantastic 2 weeks at this site in July. Made to feel very welcome, loved having the little piglets run round on site, got to see the cows being milked and fed the lambs. The views locally are amazing, with plenty of places to go and beaches to visit. We had some lovely lazy days on site too which meant we really appreciated the large size pitches. People have moaned about the road noise and yes there is some but certainly didnt annoy us and quiet during the night. Great facilities on site and everything is very well kept. Play area and icecream man visiting were well received too. Thank you
