Excellent CL, great base for area
Ferndale Farm
Ferndale Farm is an excellent base, a very quiet site despite its location, just off the A174, only 8-10 mins from Whitby town
The CL itself is basic, the ground is an inclined field, water and waste disposal, elsan, that's about it. All you need for off-grid R&R. You'll possibly need levelling blocks, depending how you position your unit. Warm welcome, very friendly owner, Ferndale proved a great base for visiting the area.
There are are some great pubs not too far, plenty of walks for those with dogs.
If you're comfortable being non reliant on EHU, don't overlook this gem.
Excellent value, good facilities
Ferndale Farm
We only stayed here for one night in June and were given a warm welcome.
You will need levellers/ chocks as the site is slightly sloping and a grass field rather than a lawn!
The facilities for water and waste disposal are good and well maintained
This is an excellent base for walkers and to visit Whitby, Staithes and the surrounding area.
One thing to note is that it is now £8 not £6 but nevertheless good value for money

Ferndale Farm
Although basic, this cl was well organised for water and waste disposal. There is no electricity but as we have a solar panel we do not need to be plugged in.
The bus from Middlesbrough to Whitby goes every half hour during the week and we used it to go to Whitby, Staithes and Saltburn on sea. The bus stop is 10 mins walk from cl.
We were blessed with good weather though the ground was fairly wet from recent rain and caused some wheel spinning. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful views from there site.
Levellers are needed as the site has a gentle slope.
A good base to explore this coast.

Ferndale Farm
We booked a ten night stay. Since the start of lockdown this was our first holiday this year. On site we use a combination of solar and wind-charging power to maintain our 12 volt battery. The on site facilities are recycling, very user friendly. This user friendliness even extends to the toilet emptying point having a very light weight cover - no weight lifting here. This site has great views to The South providing the opportunity for sighting wildlife from the comfort of your own comfortable chair. For those of us who like to walk, road / mountain biking / run, there are lots of tracks / quiet roads in this area. In short good facilities, brilliant views, great hosts.

Lovely Site
Ferndale Farm
Don't normally write reviews but for the first time ever we felt we needed to do this. Fabulous site. Great views. Easy access to Whitby and Sandsend and lots of interesting walks. Site is great for dog owners as lots of public footpaths nearby although some not used regularly so a little neglected. Will definitely be back!
