Why stay here ...

Welcome to Northfield Farm Caravan Site. The CL is a private and rural 2 acre site situated on a working farm, yet is only 6 miles from the centre of Oxford.  The site has the River Cherwell running alongside on one edge with hedges around the rest of the field to provide shelter. Beyond the site there are open fields belonging to the Farm. Fishing is available within the site area.

The site is a lovely location for a relaxing break, visits to the 'City of the Dreaming Spires' or historical Blenheim Palace. The site is regularly mown with three electric boxes around the site (4 Electric points on two and 2 Electric points on one) to enable visitors to choose where they would like to pitch within the whole field.  If you have a long cable then you can choose to pitch near the river.

There is an area of hardstanding should visitors require it.

Dogs are welcome on the site, however we do ask that visitors are considerate of others and ensure they clear up after their dogs.

The river and fields surrounding the site provide an abundance and variety of wildlife. At the far end of the site there is direct access onto a bridleway either to Islip, 0.5 mile (through a ford ankle to knee deep) or towards Oxford, 4.5miles. Or, as an alternative, a shorter circular walk of approximately 1 mile around the farm.

The CL is situated on a working arable and livestock farm, so at times, you will see and hear some of the machinery at work, however, we do take into consideration visitors on the site to ensure they have an enjoyable stay.

We are approximately 2 miles from the local village of Kidlington (reportedly the largest village in England) which has many local amenities.  You can also catch a local bus (1.5 miles) or Park and Ride (2.5 miles) into Oxford. There is also a newly opened railway station, Oxford Parkway (Chiltern Line), which can take you to the Bicester Village Retail outlet in 20 minutes or directly into London Marylebone in just under 1 hour. The line runs near to the site on new quiet rails.

There are plenty of areas to explore in the locality, beautiful villages and historic towns within Oxfordshire and the nearby Cotswolds.

Advanced booking required and Gas is available to purchase. Payment can be made by cheque or cash on arrival.  Deposits will be required to secure your booking.

We look forward to welcoming you to our site.

One night blunder

A one night stay on route to Brighton for the week, the trip from the Midlands was not the best heavy rain all the way and poor visibility. But hey it eased off on arrival to this site. Maybe us but I didn’t realise there was two CLs .. we found our selves on the wrong site not until we had unhitched and when a man with a clipboard appeared telling us we had not read the signs and should not have turned right but left at the signs.. we explained the signs didn’t seem clear to us and that we didn’t realise there was two CLs, in that he insisted we moved. We had a stand off and an heated conversation was had, I explained we would be gone at 9am the next morning and it was already turned 8pm.. To be told I was on the wrong site and this one was full .. he insisted we hitch up and move. Resentfully we did but insisted he showed us the way, he did this ... it seemed to me a petty attitude and inflexible. He shrugged his shoulders. I found this man arrogant and smug .. and sadly I was so would up by is manner I told him so. The CL was ok and served a purpose as a one night stop over, albeit we misinterpreted the signage his attitude would stop us returning

Excellent Site

This site was perfect for us. It is situated over a mile from the public road, accessible via a private farm road which is concrete and in very good condition. As a result, the site feels very peaceful and very secure. The only noise comes from the railway line which runs next to the site, but we didn't find this at all intrusive. If you have a dog, this site is very good, as you can walk the private access road and there is a field accessible from the site. Rosie, the site owner met us on arrival and was very friendly. There are no marked out pitches, so you can go wherever your hook up cable will reach. We pitched in a nice shady spot under some trees. We will definitely visit this site again.

Great site

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at this site. We were blessed with a bout of glorious weather. We loved it. The approach to the farm is easily accessible. There is a very long driveway which has good passing points. The site owners, Merlin & Rosie, made us feel very welcome and gave us good information on local points of interest and facilities. We were spoilt by having the site to ourselves, apart from one night, but there is plenty of room between pitches if the site was fully occupied. Nearby train line did not cause any disturbance. Good (and secure) park & ride close by for Oxford city centre. Blenheim Palace approx 8 miles away. Will definitely visit again.

M40 A34 STOPOVER

We used this CL heading down to Dover as an overnight stop. Also ideal for those on the A34 heading towards Portsmouth. The CL has a very good concrete road leading to the main site. Easy access. Grass was well cut with plenty of space. Although we used it as a stopover it is ideal for Oxford. As you drive down the concrete road there is a split. The left tracks leads to the non electric pitches, the right to the electric pitches. Trains can be seen from the CL. Caused us no problem at all

Excellent CL for a peaceful stay

Stayed two nights here when seeking a quiet weekend get away and this CL was ideal. The owner was helpful and welcoming, talking us through the best place to set up, given recent high water in the adjacent river. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed our first opportunity to sit out in the late afternoon sunshine of 2018. Enjoyed being a long way from the road and felt secure with the coded security gate. Clean, well-tended grass and our pitch was completely level. We will come here again, I am sure.
