More of a Camp Site than a CL

Gosswood Lodge
Communication was poor. Received a message saying we were expected ‘tomorrow’ with a pitch number, when we actually 40 mins or so from the site on the day arranged. Luckily, I’d emailed and confirmed the date we were arriving after a phone conversation three weeks earlier; it has taught me to always back up booking dates with at least a text. We had tried phoning both numbers provided, emailed and text to check they’d actually got a pitch for us but we did not receive any reply. We had prepared ourselves to finding another site if need be. Jane was on hand to sort everything out & take payment. After this I received a 👍🏼 from the owner in a msg. We never met the owner until 30 mins before leaving after our stay. The site itself had 12 caravans/tents pitched up. The only thing separating the CL from the main field was a one slatted fence that the electric cable ran along; not for us I’m afraid. I like a 5 van site, I should have checked more carefully when booking. The grass was in need of cutting and was wet through in the morning. The family were hosting a wedding on the day we were due to leave & we had been warned it would be hectic on site. We hadn’t been warned a jcb would be digging all the previous day, directly behind our caravan from 9am-7:30pm then an additional tractor rolling the grass by the side of us. We packed up and left at 7:30pm. The owner said he’d hoped it hadn’t been too noisy.

Great site

Gosswood Lodge
We had booked four nights but stayed an extra two. Great location to visit Bath, Wells, Cheddar and surrounding villages and very close to Chew Valley lake where you can sit in the shade and watch sailing boats or just take in the view. Blue Bowl Inn a short flat walk away, very dog friendly and lovely food. The site is level needing only slight adjustment. Separate toilets and showers were spotless and the whole site is very well looked after. Added bonus of high water pressure filling an Aqua roll in the quickest time we have found so far! Very helpful communication both before and on the site (thanks Jane) and three Alpaca keeping an eye on everyone. Book with confidence

Lovely CL Site

Gosswood Lodge
We stayed here with our small dog for 7 nights. It is the best CL site we have stayed on. It has very good facilities with water and showers/toilets etc. all close by. Gosswood Lodge had all the facilities you expect on a full Club Site. Simon & Jenny were very welcoming and Jane was always available for help and advice regarding local places to visit and great knowledge of pubs and food!! Everything was spotlessly clean. We loved it there. They also have alpacas on site and chickens with eggs for sale. There is an information hut. Thank you so much for a lovely restful time Simon, Jenny & Jane. Chris & Paul

Friendly and Welcoming

Gosswood Lodge
We had a six night stay at this site and cannot praise the owners highly enough. The site was beautifully maintained, and the facilities even if a little dated were comfortable and kept spotless. There are no spectacularly scenic views, but the site is open and airy with ample pitches, so you do not feel claustrophobic at all. It felt incredibly peaceful. The three alpacas kept us entertained throughout the visit, so no telly needed There is so much to do in this area if you are active - and so many beautiful places to visit. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone seeking a no-bells-and-whistles, peaceful site that is well placed for walking, cycling, sightseeing, fishing, potholing, or just chilling. All credit to the team.
