Why stay here ...

Old Mills CL site is situated in the heart of Somerset near to the Mendip hills, the famous Cheddar Gorge and the Cheddar cheese factory. We are located within an hour’s drive of Weston-Super-Mare, Stonehenge, Yeovil air museum and the Concorde aerospace museum at Filton. We are ideally situated for cities such as Bath and Bristol both providing plenty to see and do. The harbour in Bristol is home to the SS Great Britain and Bath has the famous Roman Baths and hot springs. Key dates in our diary are the Bristol harbour festival, the balloon festival and Longleat’s festival of light. Other noteworthy locations on our doorstep include Wells the smallest city in the UK with the mighty impressive cathedral. Glastonbury home to Glastonbury music festival and the Glastonbury or if you fancy a walk up it, the views are amazing from the top. Street is next to Glastonbury for a bit of retail therapy at the outlet centre to pick up some bargains. Longleat safari park, Wookey hole caves and the Bath and west show ground are also within 25 minutes drive.

Old Mills CL is an all grass pitch site providing quiet peaceful surrounds that enables lovely access to the countryside and wildlife. Deer, foxes, rabbits and even badgers can be seen, even in daylight hours. Buzzards and red kites also circle in the skies above. The site is an off grid location, so please remember to bring green toilet flush and any extra solar panels if you need to keep your batteries charged up.

The field is mostly level and provides ample space to erect awnings, canopies or wind breaks as you feel necessary for your stay. Dogs are more than welcome but please keep them on a lead as there are horses in a neighbouring field. There are many footpaths across adjacent fields where you can walk dogs or just take in the Somerset countryside. There is a neighbouring field where dogs can be exercised but this is not 100% secure. Children are also more than welcome there is plenty of space for them to run about and play.

Within only a few minutes drive away there are Indian, Chinese and Thai restaurants that also provide take away meals too. There are also chip shops and the usual array of pizza places too, please ask for our recommendations. A local farm shop sells a variety of fresh meat and vegetables perfect for those barbecues, they also have a lovely restaurant at the farm shop that serves amazing lunches and a Sunday roast. There is a Tesco supermarket and petrol station less than 1 mile away in case you have forgotten any essentials.

We look forward to welcoming you at Old Mills CL site.

A real hidden gem

Old Mills CL
Damian is very accommodating and a real gentleman. Came over to say hi when we arrived and made sure we were all ok. We ended up being later due to a tyre blowout, yet Damian assured us there was nothing to worry about and to take our time. The location is perfect for easy access to Bath, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and many other places of interest. The site proved to be very quiet with lots of nature (deer and falcons) around. The facilities (waste & water) are as good if not better than you would get at most club sites let alone CL sites, and very professionally presented. Overall we spent 10 fantastic nights here and would certainly visit again.

Perfect Off Grid

Old Mills CL
This site will be staying on our favourites list. Damian was very helpful, easy going and left us to it. We had the whole site to ourselves and it is perfect, it has open views of nearby fields yet very private with trees, high shrubs and set well back up the lane from the main road; which meant seclusion and easy access to and from site. It felt so safe we left all our exterior furniture out when taking walks to the surrounding area. The pitch area is set furthest from the lane and is pretty level with perfect East to West sun for the solar panels. On site fresh water, grey waste and chemical wc waste all neatly placed with unfettered access. Tesco super store just a ten/fifteen minute walk from site. No direct over aircraft overflights and road noise from main road is unobtrusive. We had a thoroughly de-stress long weekend that felt like a fortnight. We will definitely be returning in due course and will make it our go to, site for exploring Somerset. CLs are the real way to motorhome.🤘☕️🇬🇧

Peaceful and tranquil

Old Mills CL
Rang at short notice ,was told no problem and Damien would see us after we settled in. What a nice surprise, lovely field,no frills, good water, waste and rubbish area, great views, lots of nature to see,but the best thing was the calmness and tranquility of the site,as was Damien. We were also lucky to be the only ones on site, which felt amazing, will we return, as Arnie said in The Terminator, I'LL BE BACK !!!

Quiet and family friendly

Old Mills CL
We stayed here over the August BH weekend and had a lovely time. Arrival is easy and the driveway wide enough to allow our 8ft wide twin axle Caravan in with no trouble. The facilities are basic with only water and waste disposal but this was fine for our requirements. We have never been Off-Grid before but managed absolutely fine, CL's offer a quiet and peaceful experience that is sometimes not always always possible on bigger sites. Our girls loved calling over the horses in the adjacent field and enjoyed looking for nature. With a still summer evening we saw several hot air balloons float overhead and got to see a family of Dear pass by in the lower field. We didn't have much chance to explore the local area (other than a brief trip to Tesco to refuel) but it seems to have lots of attractions nearby for keeping the kids occupied. We're already looking forward to our next trip to Old Mills!

Excellent base to explore

Old Mills CL
Stayed here at the end of August as wanted a no frills off grid base from which to explore Somerset. The site is very peaceful, well laid out and flat with water and recycling very accessible on site and easy to use. We have a solar panel hand have been tending towards off grid in summer months and it’s worked well this year. We used this site as a great base to explore Cheddar gorge and caves, Bath, Thatchers and Shepton mallet cider making, plus we had a trip out to Bristol. Stonehenge and Weston super mare are not out of reach either. Loads of local amenities close by - Tesco, many takeaways and a small town centre offering all the bits and pieces needed. If you don’t want to use your toilet facilities on van/Motorhome Tesco was ideal at only 1.5 miles away with good facilities. Overall highly recommend hassle free off grid camping in a great location.
