Why stay here ...

Black Barn CL is a small family run site within the grounds of our home, on the edge of Framlingham in Suffolk (0.7miles).

Black Barn CL is special because it is situated within walking distance (pavement all the way) of a thriving market town, no need to worry about parking or driving home after an evening out. For a small market town, Framlingham has a surprising amount to offer. As well as the Castle on the hill made famous by Ed Sheeran, the town is full of independent shops, cafes, 4 fabulous pubs, antiques, art exhibitions, a Deli jam packed with delicious things to temp you and a choice of beautiful walks around the castle's mere. This spring has also seen the arrival of a new Italian restaurant which has been opened by the broadcaster and food writer Ruth Watson. Twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays the town comes alive with its market, offering local food produce, as well as different stalls selling clothing, baskets and plants etc.

The area surrounding Framlingham is packed with interesting, historical and beautiful places to visit, such as RSPB Minsmere (16.3 miles), Sutton Hoo Anglo-Saxon burial site (10.3 miles), Rendlesham Forest Centre (10.6 miles), Woodbridge Tide Mill (13 miles) as well as the Suffolk coastal towns of Aldeburgh (15 miles) and Southwold (21 miles) which are a short drive away.

Black Barn is a new site offering 5 grass pitches on a 3/4 acre plot surrounded by mostly mature hedging and fencing, although the newly planted laurels are needing a little more time before they reach maturity! The pitching area is tucked away from our home at the back of our land and comprises of large close mown pitches surrounded by natural long meadow grass. Each pitch will happily take a large awning and has its own electrical hook up point. The communal service point, drinking water and rubbish bins are situated with easy access close by.

As well as accommodation we have created a social garden space for you to relax and enjoy, with picnic tables dotted around raised beds full of flowers and plants. The garden is also equipped with a pizza kitchen and throughout the summer we will be offering CL members delicious treats and wood fired pizza cooked by our in-house professional chef (when he is not at work).

Although the site is situated on the edge of a bustling town, the road which during the day can get quite busy, quietens by early evening and the biggest culprit for noise pollution becomes the bird song. This is an adult only site, although well behaved dogs on leads are welcome too. Dogs and their owners can enjoy a variety of different countryside walks straight from the site.

We are very excited about welcoming our first CL members to Black Barn CL and to show off the wonderful town of Framlingham and we will do our best to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible.

Very good and well maintained site. Owners Mollie and Richard very welcoming. Excellent food on offer Friday evening in a seating area beside the camp site. Great location for exploring both inland and coastal areas of Suffolk.

Great location for exploring Framlingham

Black Barn CL
Had a super weekend on this site. The owners were very welcoming and helpful with the added bonus of some wood fired pizza on site on Saturday evening. We walked into Framlingham several times, which was an easy 25 minutes walk along paths. We wandered around the town, castle and mere and the site was an ideal location for this. Whilst we didn't cycle ourselves there were a lot of cyclists around so its obviously a nice area for cycling as well as walking. We will definitely return.

A Tranquil Site

Black Barn CL
Richard welcomed us within minutes of our arrival. This site was peaceful, picturesque and close to the town of Framlingham. We stayed Friday night and left Saturday, so will have to come back and try the pizzas. Mollie was very friendly, as we left. Lovely little site and would recommend it to our fellow campers.

Tip Top

Black Barn CL
Lovely little site, easy to find and access. Mollie was very welcoming, appearing just as we drove up. Flat easy walking to Saxtead or Framlingham with its great Town Trail and fascinating castle. Lots of excellent literature & walks in the information cupboard. We'd come again.

Very relaxed and enjoyable stay

Black Barn CL
Mollie and her husband Richard were very welcoming. The site is is easily accessible, well laid out and run. On the Saturday night of our visit we had woodfired pizza cooked by Mollie anc Richard in the sheds garden area of their site. The area is very pleasant to sit and eat and the food was excellent. We look forward to trying something else from the menu offered on our next visit. Thank you very much 😊
