Why stay here ...

The Croft CL features a level mown grass site with individual hard standings and a stone road for all year access.

Electric hook up points and water taps are conveniently near each pitch.

A toilet block, no steps for easy access, provides two toilets, electric hand dryer, an electric shower (50p for ten minutes), two enclosed wash areas with sinks and razor points and heating in the winter.

There is a rubbish bin and recycling area outside the toilet block and facilities to discharge toilet waste. A low level toilet emptying point is suitable for motorhomes.

Site security is very high with wide electric entrance gates operated by a keypad. The code changes frequently and you will be given the code when you arrive.

The owners also operate a BandB, convenient if family or friends want to join you.

The site is centrally situated for Kenilworth, Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, Coventry, Solihull, and Birmingham.

The NEC and Stoneleigh Park are both about 15 minutes by car.

Kenilworth castle is about 4 miles and Warwick Castle 6 miles. Local National Trust properties include Baddesley Clinton 3 miles and Packwood House 4 miles. Several others are within 30 minutes.

Dogs are accepted and can either be exercised in the adjoining field when it is not occupied by sheep, or there are local paths across the fields near the entrance. Walkers might like to walk across the fields to Kenilworth castle, about 1.15 hours. Nearest lake fishing is 3 miles.

Great CL site

The Croft
We have just got back from a 2 night stay here. We had a wedding to attend at the nearby Wroxall Abbey which is a very short drive away from the site, you could even walk it there. We arrived Friday evening about 7pm, it was easy to find and the access was fine. We knocked on David’s door who welcomed us with a code for the electric gate. He had popped a cone on our pitch so that nobody parked on it. David explained where everything was, We paid and we were left to it for the weekend. So easy and no pressure. The site was tidy and we backed on to a lovely paddock with some texel tups in (male sheep). It was quiet and although there were a few vans there, we didn’t see anybody while we were at our van. There is a small shower block with one shower, a few toilet and sink cubicles. We used the shower which was fine. It was clean, perfectly useable and plenty of hot water. You pay 50p to use the shower which gave you plenty of time. Note that you need 50p coins for it to work, it didn’t work with other change. The site is quiet, well maintained, tidy and secure. The road does run behind the hedge but it was fine, not an overly busy road and didn’t disturb us at all, the birds singing beautifully in the morning were louder. We would definitely return and was lovely to make the most of a wedding with a weekend away in our van.

Well located, good walks, family/dog friendly

The Croft
Had a few stays here. Easy drive just a few miles off the A46 and straightforward to find. Good value per night, not a true CL due to the number of caravans on site and lots of construction workers/long term travellers who live on site. HOWEVER - very well kept, showers and toilets were always clean. Access restricted by electric gates. Plenty of space for larger outfits. Owners are welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. Lots to do in the area, we have walked miles directly from the site itself and never ran out of places to go. The motor museum at Gaydon is particularly good. The towns of Warwick, Leamingotn Spa and Stratford never diasappoint. Highly recommended.

What is a CL?

The Croft
Site is easy to find. We stopped outside the owners house on arrival and were given relevant information and electric gate key code. Site is level with hard standings and water taps and hook up points local to pitches. Grass cut and site generally well maintained. There were about 12 units on site 3 of which were touring, the rest appeared to be semi-resident. The site is noisy with a road running along one side that is busy from early morning til evening. Depending on wind direction the site is below the flight path of West Midlands airport. We experienced departing aircraft climbing from early morning til late at night. Have the requirements for being a Certified Location changed? Or is this regarded as being two sites?

Gone down hill

The Croft
We have stayed here many times over the last few years when returning to the area to visit family. When we first visited it was a lovely site. The facilities were never brilliant but we always used our own so was never an issue. Mr Clapp was welcoming and friendly and we returned time and time again with no issues. However, the last time we visited this site we were so disappointed that we have vowed not to return again. I will also be reporting the issues to the club. There were a few 'semi-permanent' caravans, being used by construction workers of the new HS2 line. The site was untidy and looked unkept and one van in particular with personal belongings, children's toys and outdoor equipment strewn all around their pitch, it actually looked like a traveler site. There were too many vans to run in line with the CL rules but for some reason by putting up a little sign to say the CL is on one side, seems acceptable, even though it is all the same site!

One time stay

The Croft
We stayed here for 2 nights as a stop over for visiting Crufts. We struggled to enter at first as no one was around. Once on site, we realised there were already 8 vans pitched. Usually a CL has maximum 5? We would be the 9th van. Some of these vans seemed seasonal and belonging to contractors who came and went. One of these woke us up beeping their horn at 1am on Friday night. On our day of leaving (check out time 12 o clock) we got a knock at 11am whilst having our breakfast asking when we were leaving as they needed the space imminently. (another 2 contractor vans turned up towing caravans and one parked up in a space, waiting and watched us for an hour to pack up and leave.) At £18 a night this site is expensive for what it is. Having to pay extra to use the shower and wash your hands. We won't be coming back.
