Why stay here ...

Quiet and peaceful Caravan/Motorhome site located on the “wild side” of Loch Ness in the Strathnairn valley, surrounded by beautiful countryside and the Monadhliath mountain range. Being in such a rural location we benefit from an abundance of wildlife.

Watch the Red Kites circle above daily and perhaps catch a glimpse of the Osprey or Sea Eagle. Deer roam the hills around us and if you visit during autumn, you can hear the rutting stags. If you are very lucky you might just see one of our local hares hopping through the garden grounds.

We are only 20 minutes by car from the capital city of the Highlands, the starting point of the NC500 and 15 minutes by car from the shores of Loch Ness. The site is the ideal base for exploring the Highlands and local area or simply put your feet up and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There is a local bus service which runs infrequently if you wish to enjoy a day sightseeing in Inverness without the need to drive. There is also a number of local cycle routes for the more active adventurer.

The site contains five fully serviced pitches, all hard standing with water and electric hook-up points at each pitch, along with grey water waste disposal at the pitches. The site does not have any toilet or shower facilities. There is a communal chemical waste point. The site also benefits from excellent WiFi which is included in the price.

The site is adults only and well-behaved dogs are welcome although they must be kept on a lead in the grounds.

Arrivals are from 12 noon until 7pm. Later arrivals are welcome they just need to be pre-arranged.

Enjoyable Visit

The Steadings
Second stop on our annual grand tour of 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. A new one for us. Nice peaceful site, in a very rural location, very occasional rural road noise, with cattle, sheep, pheasants and Red Kites flying about, but only 20/25 min drive to Inverness. Serviced pitches, some are quite tight and on the pitch we were on, with our awning up had to park the car just a few yards away.but still within the grounds. There are three pitches on a higher level and two a bit lower. Lots of places to visit the RSPB reserve on Loch Ruthven is within easy flat walking distance. Visited Fort Augustus very busy and touristy, it’s where Loch Ness joins the Caledonian canal with the swing bridge. Dores a good place to visit, quiter side of Loch Ness and good for walks. Also Falls of Foyers worth a visit. Drove to the Black Isles too, whether it was the dank day but not sure we would return. Angelique was very welcoming, and very informative with directions to site, and additional info all sent prior to arrival. Enjoyable stay just wish the weather would have been a bit kinder!

Nice Quiet CL

The Steadings
Nice CL in open countryside. Very easy to find, excellent directions from the owners received prior to travelling. There is a lower area with two pitches overlooking a sheep field, lovely to watch. There is a slightly higher area with three pitches. Each pitch had the luxury of its own tap, drain and ehu. So no need to keep filling up on water if you have a connection for tap and drain. Picnic bench between pitches was a nice touch. Friendly owner, very chatty and helpful with local places to visit. Lots of wildlife to watch, saw Deer, Hares and so many birds. Local RSPB reserve nearby. Visited Cawdor castle, Findhorn, Culloden, Inverness, Falls of Foyers and Fort Augustus. There were many other places but we ran out of time. Lovely coffee shop near Foyers “The Cameron’s tearoom and farm shop” We would return to this CL.

Great little CL site

The Steadings
Perfect for our one night stopover. Excellent communication before we arrived and a friendly welcome. Water, electricity, grey water waste, toilet waste disposal. No toilets or showers but excellent Wi-Fi. A lovely peaceful setting with spacious pitches. Would use again.

Fabulous CL!

The Steadings
We spent a week here at the beginning of August and absolutely loved every minute of it! Rob & Angelique are wonderful hosts, sending us a map of the site showing our pitch, providing an overview SMS a couple of days before arrival, greeting us on arrival and seeing us off on our (reluctant) departure. Don't think we've ever encountered such hospitality! All the pitches are fully serviced with lovely views of the surrounding hills and mountains and, weather permitting, wonderful sunsets. We were told by Angelique that there's no TV signal but that doesn't bother us as we mostly stream anyway - the compensation for the lack of TV signal was the best Wi-Fi we've ever had on a site, easily good enough to stream which was a real bonus. The surrounding areas is beautiful with numerous drives available - a lot of single track roads but clearly marked passing places makes it easy to get around. Inverness is only around 15-20 minutes away and has all the facilities you'd expect of a large town. We were blessed with wonderful weather which made our holiday such a joy and has renewed our love for Scotland so we will most definitely return - when we do so, The Steadings will be at the top of our list of CLs to book... Many thanks for such a wonderful stay, Rob & Angelique!
