Our third visit to this lovely site - and we'll be back!

Rivendell
We have now stayed at Rivendell on three occasions, and for us it is just perfect. We really appreciate the serviced pitches and the fact that Sam has installed solar panels to help keep the cost down for Club members. The grass is regularly mown and cuttings collected and the waste area is always clean and tidy. It's so peaceful. The woodpecker was a regular visitor to our feeders and we often heard the owls at night. Even better, a badger came for a night visit once he discovered our peanut stash, and I'm glad he made such a determined effort to open the box as he woke us up and we got to see him! We've stayed on several pitches as on occasions we've stayed for the full 28 days but have moved pitches when needed. Pitch 1 is near the gate and we loved hearing the horses clip clopping along the road in the morning. Pitch 6 was our most recent, and we stayed on this both prior to school holidays and during the school holidays, so I was surprised to see a complaint about noise from another reviewer. The main time there was any noise from the adjacent play area was early evening when children were letting off steam before bed, and it was the nice noise of children enjoying themselves. And as Rivendell is not an adults only site, then there is the possibility of children being on site anyway. Our 3 grandchildren came for a week and had a whale of a time playing with other children on the site and making friends. We discovered the little indoor pool across the road at Croft Holiday Park. £3 for adults, £1.50 for children, under 3's free, for a 30 min session. They limit the number allowed in, but if it's not busy you can stay in longer. We were often the only ones there out of school holiday time, so it was like our own private pool! And it was a blessing on the rainy days when our grandchildren were staying. We'd like to thank Sam and Emma for their kindness, as my dad, who lived locally, died when we were there and they were so supportive. Sam is always on hand anyway, to ensure that everyone is OK, but his kindness was greatly appreciated. Sites which are extra-special often have repeat visitors, and there are lots here who we have bumped into again and again, which shows how good it is!!

Great value for money. Owner very welcoming and helpful for places of interest etc. Cannot fault at all. Be sure to stick to directions on website to avoid narrow lanes. The recommended route is excellent. Will be back.!

Excellent site and service

Rivendell
Sam has done a really good job here. The pitches are large and well maintained, and there is no doubt that having each pitch completely serviced is a luxury. We stayed the week before half-term. It was utterly peaceful, wonderful sunsets, with birdsong and rabbits to add the finishing touchwa. Sam was meticulous in keeping in touch beforehand, and checking during our week's stay. The only caveat is that the site can be quite windy, so a windbreak might be useful. But easily one of the nicest CLs we have stayed in. Highly recommended.

The best CL site we have ever stayed at.

Rivendell
This is a gem of a site, well placed for visiting Tenby, Saundersfoot, St Davids and surrounding area. The site is spotless with a elson point and refuge area that is always well kept at the top of the site away from pitches. Sam is a great host, he regularly checks in with campers to make sure there are no issues. The pitches are very large, hard standing with water, electricity, grey waste and have a very large grass area between each pitch. We liked it so much that we have already booked again for next year. Looking forward to going back Chris & Nicky

OK site but consider close proximity to children's play area

Rivendell
Just returned from an 8 night booking, but reluctantly had to leave after 3 nights because of loud children noise from dusk till dawn in the neighbouring fields static holiday sites play area, which was only 10 meters at most from our van on pitch-7. This would probably be less of an issue on the first few pitches, but certainly an issue for pitches 5 to 8, if like ourselves you prefer a little peace and quiet. The site was otherwise generally ok, however, most pitches only had hard standing for your van, and some awning pitching would require siting on newly prepared ground areas that are currently unfit for this purpose being just soiled areas recently seeded. Our neighbours on pitch-6 had to dismantle their awning at the first sign of wind as their pegs were being simply pulled out of the soil. This will obviously improve but will take time. There was inadequate refuge and recycling bins for eight pitches (despite being marketed and claiming to be a CL site), with just 1 small bin for each of general/card/bottles which resulted in them mostly been full and overflowing. However, this may have been the consequence of easter weekend collections, which may occur more frequently outside of this period. Then to top our stay off, albeit just bad luck for us, we had a non-UK 5-wheeler pitched as our other neighbour on pitch-8, so we experienced zero privacy as their rig opened onto and facing us :o(
