A week for two 40 something year olds….

Camelford Club Campsite
We arrived to a lovely warm welcome by the warden and her dog! There are no barriers and so you can come and go as you please. It’s the first site I’ve never had a barrier, but was no issue. Felt safe enough. Pitches are very roomy, but you do need some levellers. There is a pylon, but it’s of no great concern. There’s no noise at all. Unless you are an avid kite foyer, it won’t bother you. Showers are the best I’ve ever had a a CC site. Hot, not the dreaded push button and spotless; all facilities were clean. I purposely chose this site as it’s small and no playground. So assumed it wouldn’t be a first choice for families for and I was right. It’s really convenient base. The only downside is the dog walk, my back garden is bigger. But there’s a place for the dog to do his business. The fish and chip (Peckish) is a must, order and collect online as it gets busy. Enjoyed a stroll at Rock beach and took the Padstow ferry over. St Glen’s is worth a walk, and I enjoyed the ploughman’s lunch. We took a little trip out to the infamous Jamaica Inn. A local co-op in Camelford village or a trip to town for Lidl and Tesco in Wadebridge for groceries. Will definitely be back.

Nice little club site

Camelford Club Campsite
Very clean loos, showers and facilities. Excellent field close to site for daily dog walks. Shops walking distance. A little open which meant in high winds in Sept 2023 we dropped our awning but braver souls than us left them up and survived. Generous hardstanding plots. There is indeed a pylon but it didn't worry us and there is no humming or anything from the wires.

Ideal small site with magnificent views

Camelford Club Campsite
We stayed here in May 2024 and found the site to be excellent. Yes, there's a pylon in the middle but it's sited unobstructively (if a pylon ever can be) and you really hardly notice it. Yes, the facilities are a bit dated but are spotlessly clean and the showers are the best I've experienced on any site - powerful and hot! There are bus stops conveniently located 2 mins walk from the site (although ignore the timetables on the actual bus stop - they are works of fiction - and use the app instead) and we found the locale to be good cycling territory, biking it to Tintagel in particular. No matter what pitch, the views are lovely and we saw some magnificent sunsets. It's a small, but beautifully formed, site so not sure if really that suitable for families, unless you are using as a base for excursions. Staff were friendly and very helpful and we'd definitely come back here again.

Divided by pylons

Camelford Club Campsite
Whilst the site was convenient for our needs and kept spick and span by the staff, this really isn't up to scratch. It is only a small field, divided by a major National Grid electriciy route, complete with a full size pylon by the toilet block. Many of the pitches seemed unoccupied, just long grass skirting a caravan, blinds drawn, without human activity. The toilet facilities are in keeping with the size of the campsite but are very tired, Artex coming adrift and fluorescent lights collecting insects galore. I see Bill the Bodger has been at work too - the end shower cubicle had four wall hooks for ones clothing but eighteen extra drill holes, mostly complete with Rawlplugs. Don't use the shower modified for the disabled unless you want to leave the door open. I'd be afraid to close it in case it would never open again! We had clean water, electricity, waste disposal points, dustbins. What more could we want? Time to refurbish or move out I felt.
