We are delighted to announce we have successfully purchased the award-winning Dornafield Touring Park, located in the beautiful area of Newton Abbot in South Devon and an Affiliated Site with the Club since 1998. Read our full article here.

Situated in a quiet valley and surrounded by beautiful countryside, Dornafield Club Campsite also boasts a charming historic farmhouse which lends an atmosphere of days gone by. This charming campsite truly comprises everything you could ask for in a family holiday break. With safe areas for your children to explore, it also comes with a well equipped play area. There are also plenty of activities for more mature visitors such as table tennis, a multi-use ball game area, darts and a pool table.

Just a short drive away from Dornafield Club Campsite is the famous English Riviera of Torbay, with loads of scenic attractions to enjoy. If you turn your attentions inland you'll find that the rugged splendour of Dartmoor is well worth the visit. To the south west of the campsite you can explore the Elizabethan Totnes on the River Dart, offering romantic, winding boat trips. The towns of Plymouth and Exeter are also within easy reach for all the conveniences you could wish for, and even golfers will not be disappointed with the challenging Dainton Park 18-hole golf course nearby.

Perfect for us

Dornafield Club Campsite
Arrived on the 28th August for five nights. The road down to the site is narrow but fine once you get familiar with it.We thought Dornafield was perfect. We were on the super pitches NO 52.There were only us and one other unit where we were but had the eight other pitches been taken i'm sure the way the pitches are set out it would be fine.Staff are very nice pitches are well maintained, facilities are very good especially liked the services on the pitch.Good base recommed Sheldon and the ferry over to Tignmouth,Torquay and the walk from Dawlish to Dawlish Warren on the coast railway path was lovely.we saw the Royal Duchy Steam train which was a bonus..we also had a Pizza on Sunday evening, very tasty.Enjoyed the Morris dancers on the Thursday night.

Not as good as last year!

Dornafield Club Campsite
I followed the directions as per the website (and not the sat nav) and ended up miles away from Dornafield. I rang the site and a lovely man helped me and guided me back to Newton Abbott and Dornafield, absolute hero. I had booked to arrive 1-2pm, but after the instructions, 'leave at Junction 31' and getting totally lost, I arrived at 4pm. I was told that I should not have left at juncion 31 by a lady on the desk, and I was the only person to have done this! Not a great start. The site was half empty (it was full last year) and it seemed quite miserable. There were substantial roadworks going on outside the site on the main road, with a 4 way traffic system onto the lane leading to the site. The pool cues were removed from the games room when the office closed at 6pm, due to an accident with kids messing around last year. This meant that for the very few older kids on the site that there was not much to do on an evening. The signal and wifi was terrible and with a teenage girl in my caravan, she had to keep venturing out to find a spot where she could use her phone. Dornafield is a lovely site, we loved it last year and this is why we re booked it this year. I am doubtful we would return, mainly due our own requirements that they could not fulfill. The pitches are a good size, well maintained and the shower and toilets are cleaned to a high standard.

Marvellous caravan site

Dornafield Club Campsite
If you haven’t been to Dornafield hitch up your caravan or go in your Motorhome now! It’s an absolutely stunning site for everyone. Great position close to the coast and Dartmoor National Park. Spotless high class facilities. Peace and quiet in extensive and very attractive grounds. Serviced pitches which even have their own bin! Helpful friendly wardens who obviously love this site. Tennis courts etc Close to a good pub you can walk to. After years of touring it doesn’t get better than this.

Revisit

Dornafield Club Campsite

We have visited this site many times and this is the first time under new management. We were not disappointed. The staff are welcoming, friendly and always available to give advice and recommendations. Facilities are still good and warm and clean. It was good to see ‘old’ faces. We were able to make use of the Pizza evening and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The best pizza we have had in a long time! Unfortunately missed the fish and chip van! We gave a 4 for location but only because of the lane leading to the site. It is negotiable with passing places. Once there you are oblivious of any traffic as it’s like a peaceful haven. We will be back! The dog walk areas are a huge bonus and are well kept.
