Could be a great site!

Hillhead Club Campsite
Generally I think caravan club sites are very good but not family campsites! I would not generally go to a caravan club site with a family but I chose this campsite as it has facilities of a family campsite and it all reads as a family campsite but yet it belongs to the Caravan Club!! Facilities as others have said are clean for about an hour then messy again but you don’t need shut them for 2 hours at a time to clean just like you do in all caravan club sites!! On family run sites, clean half the block then clean the other half like other private campsites and not to lock the family bathrooms!! Another toilet block is needed at the top (the two toilets, sorry 1 as 1 was out of order) isn’t good enough and 1 tap for that whole top of the campsite isn’t great either! Bar and restaurant need money spent on it as they look tired! Better deals would be better but generally the food was good but sometimes 1.5 hours wait for food when you have children is poor and don’t tell me that there aren’t enough staff because we have all heard this before!! The “arcade” room that use to be there but isn’t anymore needs to be there, Again the kids need somewhere to go when it’s raining. Swimming pool was good and warm, just needs the bushes and branches cut back!! You can not run this campsite the same way as your do with other quiet caravan club campsites for your retired guests!! Just the same as a hotel In central London is not the same as a hotel in the country! So many strict rules ie the white posts and your exact positioning and if it isn’t exact (half a metre or so) then you are told to move it!! The caravan club needs to start thinking and listening more to family’s (I’m 44) and are the future not your retired! This could be a great campsite so either change your ways you do things (caravan club) or sell it!!

Nice Site

Hillhead Club Campsite
Nice site quite full choice your own pitch didn’t ask for awning which was a mistake as no awning pitches small and few and far between Found one in the end with 3 other pitches - people on site really friendly - facilities well looked after very clean The Bar and pool Added bonus Bus stop right outside the gate which we took to Kingwear & Dartmouth - lots to do around the area

Great Location but Loosing appeal?

Hillhead Club Campsite
We have been coming to this site for 13 years. Visiting at different times of the year, but always during August with our family. With the shop, outdoor swimming pool, club house. Which includes Bar, Food and entertainment. Has plenty on offer. However since the covid period, the site seems to be being run down? With the loss of the arcade, the variety of kids entertainment and an ebb of enthusiasm. The choice of real ales (bottle or pump) have gone from 3 or 4 to 1. The bar staff struggle to serve a full pint. Especially with the price of beer. This year the Bingo has stopped. (Due to 1 person complaining, - Couldn't get a seat on a busy night, so was told by staff) The site, although clean and pleasant, it seems to be more slack? The toilets are cleaned spotless every day. But within an hour its like some had dragged a zoo and a farm through them. - Can't blame the wardens! This year the site was invaded by Irish travelers who ruined the whole atmosphere for all staying there. to Sum up. Hillhead has so much potential to become a great place it once was. The wardens do their best to keep the site clean, tidy and welcoming. The food is very nice looking and can only go on reviews as being 5*. Bar needs more choice and more welcoming staff. The entertainment "team" always do the best they can, with what they can do. Will still visit. but not in the summer months again.

Great family weekend

Hillhead Club Campsite
We stayed at Hillhead on 2 consecutive weekends. First weekend was with family. We made full use of the swimming pools, which were very pleasant and warm. We found all staff to be polite, friendly and accommodating. Must add that the restaurant food has improved greatly from our visit last year. We had great views out to sea and pitches were all well kept.

Best dog walk space on a campsite!

Hillhead Club Campsite
What a fantastic site - not only it has a lovely heated swimming pool, restaurant and bar with entertainment, the best feature for me was the dog walk field. It is huge!! my cockapoo could have a proper run, chase her ball and play with friends, whilst I was enjoying the best views, with the sea on all 3 sides of us. It was definitely the best spot of the whole campsite. The shop was brilliant and from what I could see, most people used the local buses which stopped right outside the campsite. We came during the water problem to show our support...and in practice the water issue was well handled with plenty of bottled water made available during our stay I don't normally plan to visit the same campsite twice but I might just make an exception this time. Nothing to fault, it was a great site, with good facilities (spotless) and great customer service in all areas. They clearly care about making this the best experience for campers.
