Another CL Booking Bug.

Searching for a Cl near Tywyn Wales, I came across a site called The Meadows.

On the CC site page it states Overall site rating 5 ticks, based on 21 reviews.

I clicked on “read more reviews” and the first five were very good but when I click again on “read more reviews” I eventually realized that the next 8 reviews are for an altogether different site located in Devon!!

One of these 8 reviews was very scathing and only gave 1 tick. It would be easy for someone to think it was aimed at the site in Wales due to the CC website glitch.

How many more faults and bugs are in the system and what damage is being done to the CLs?

I am going to inform the CL owner in case they lose bookings as a result.

I cannot find a response from the CC anywhere, have they said anything about the mess that they have created?

The reason I have chipped in, is because the time is approaching when I will be booking CL's for our trips this year and I would like it sorted before then.  I always look at the reviews before we book and make a judgment as to whether any critical review is enough to put us off.

Up to now we have never had a bad CL, some have nothing going for them apart from being where we need to be, others have positions of outstanding beauty and would probably tempt us back.

We stayed at Greenacres, Bibury, a place in the middle of nowhere, just the sort of place we like, but the reviews told us all we needed to know, how far the bus stop was ect.

Hope it get's sorted soon.

On the basis we are losing more and more of the CL stock you would have thought the CC could keep up and improve the quality of CL searches and information............undecided

I think there was a response on the snagging list about finding the lost reviews and restoring them as a priority (I think....because I haven't checked but seem to recall this question!)

I'm fast coming to the view that the CC simply don't care about CL's. 6 weeks since the website was updated and still none of the reviews for my Greenacres Farm CL have been re-instated and to make matters worse if a CL doesn't have any reviews then you cannot add a review! For my Greenacres CL then you might be lucky and see a few reviews relating to my CL but take the view more option and you get reviews for another Greenacres site in Norfolk! If you enter Greenacres Farm on the search page and select from the drop down you will get another Greenacres Farm site and not mine. On the old site for those of us with websites then the URL was hyperlinked...no more! Fortunately for my Greenacres Farm site there is a hyperlink within the description that did get carried across. If you detect an element of despair in my writings then you would be correct!!!!!

I agree, the situation is bad particularly as the sites directory is also so out of date and not yet replaced.

The Club is well aware of the issues regarding Search & Filtering for CL's.  The biggest issue - as Alan states - is that CL's with the same (or similar) names are not being correctly shown (or not shown at all), and/or their reviews are being muddled up.   I am not surprised that a few CL's are losing faith with the CC as a consequence of the new website.

I have been personally assured by Nick Lomas, DG of the CC that the search and filter issue is being actively worked on and that a 'Fix' should be implemented tonight (Friday 27 January).   However, the fix will not address all the issues regarding CL's that they are aware of.  Notably, the reviews may still be muddled.

The result of this issue? Some CL's are losing bookings as members (as demonstrated above) simply can't find the CL they are looking for.  Or they are seeing the wrong reviews..

Another consequence is that members who have found a CL they like the sound of are booking a CL based on an assumption - formed by the Filter search (for example they assumed that the CL had toilets) -  only to find that the CL does not have those facilities.

Of much greater concern (IMHO) is that very little (if any) communication has yet come from the Club about these well-known issues.  Ostriches come to mind..

Let's hope that the fix due tonight resolves many of the issues and that the Club acts swiftly to resolve the remaining CL related issues..

Our CL has disappeared from the dropdown!  It's there if you search Lancashire/Chorley/EHU,HS,and open all year and it was on the dropdown yesterday.........

Not only is the situation as Cholsey Grange has said above but to add insult to injury CL owners are having to visit the Club's website on, at least, a daily basis to see if their site is still visible/correct/searchable (see susanb's post above).

You have to ask the question of how many CL owners are completely unaware of the issues with the new website and search facility/reviews missing?  Many, many owners won't 'do' the internet and so won't be aware of issues surrounding the new website and how it may be affecting their listing, the Club have not publically acknowledged these problems...there's been no mention about it in the magazine and CL owners have not been contacted to suggest they check their listings for problems.  Their sites may not appear at all, they may have another CL's (negative) reviews, they may have lost all their reviews....the list is seemingly endless and it appears these issues won't be corrected unless the CL owners themselves make the CL department aware of the problem.

I'm lucky as my CL has a unique name and my biggest issue is that a) I've lost over 20 fabulous reviews b) if a member has already left a review they are unable to leave a more up to date one and c) the reviews I do have are not in any sort of date order apart from the 3 which have been kindly left since this new website went live.  Many other owners, especially those who share a name with another CL, I know have very serious issues which are having an impact on their bookings.  I know my referrals from the club website to my website since 6 December (live date) are down 82.5% on the same time last year, that's a massive difference.

It would be good to have some communication from the powers that be....

The people responsible for this fiasco should hang their heads in shame and should be sacked.

There are CT members out there who think that because the forum is at least manageablle then nobody should be moaning about it but I'll wager that most of those people never go near a CL and have no idea of how this abomination of a website is affecting CL owners.

I would suggest that the more savvy social media participaters amongst you let the general public know via Faceache or Twittersphere how appallingly the CC are handling things. Not my scene so to speak.

I, as a member, will be sending the CC an email expressing my thoughts but as just 1 member don't expect a reply of any consequence.

The way this organisation has been run over the last 12 months is pretty poor to say the least.

That's putting it mildly in my opinion. When one looks at a CL's review now one cannot be certain that it is referring to that actual CL. It would be a good idea for the reviewers to put the name of the CL in their intro.

The way that the reviews are all out of sequence is also very misleading. One should not have to sort through all that's been made to fine the most recent.
