Amenity blocks closed until 17th May

Anyone realised this. I just don't get it. Why can pubs open their shared toilets for outdoor diners / drinkers,  motorway services shared toilets never been closed, but caravan & camping sites can open 12th April but can't open their amenities until 17th May. And I would bet that most site toilets are far more hygienic and cleaned more often than pubs and motorway services. Bonkers.

Moderator Comment - I think this thread has run its course now. When the off topic posts outnumber the on topic ones it is time to close.

Easier just to close the block, blame the government of whichever country you happen to be in and move on.

PLEASE SEE

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2021/364/pdfs/uksi_20210364_en.pdf

I have just been reading the text of the new Coronovirus legislation passed by Parliament on 22 March.

Schedule 2 relates to arrangements in Stage 2 i.e on and after 12 April.

Paragraph 12 relates to holiday accommodation, and sub paragraph 5 relates specifically to caravan sites.

This is what it says: " Holiday Accommodation referred to in subparagraph 1 may continue to be provided a) in a campsite or caravan park, provided the only shared facilities used by guests at the campsite or caravan park are washing facilities, toilets, water points, and waste disposal points...

So the LAW clearly states that toilet blocks can be open.

I hope CMHC management have read this!!

The bit of the document you have noted is abit short on substance as it only shows what Jamsdad would like it to be the whole document .

May well be a "talking point " tomorrow when " my friend " as tinny would say ,speaks to  his other colleagues to get a definitive answer?

Why are you dragging me into this, JV? I've not mentioned your friend at all. That's a figment of your imagination.

Even stranger .... Mrs M has just read something on the ITV news website which seems to suggest that owners of "second homes" will be allowed to travel and stay in such from tomorrow? Don't know their source, but if true it suggests a certain amount of confusion in .gov land! undecided

(Mind you, she has had a couple of glasses of the red stuff this evening so might be a tad confused herself, poor old girl!  surprised)

I will have to beg her forgiveness!  wink

This is what it says -

"Travel

Despite the 'Stay At Home' message coming to an end, people are still warned to keep travel down to a minimum.

There is no distinct guidance on how far one can travel, instead people are told to stay local for the time being.

Overnight stays away from home are still banned, unless you own a second home. Those with another residence will be legally allowed to stay there from Monday."

I am surprised because I thought that was only allowed for special reasons - work, medical etc 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think it’s known as the “Stanley Johnson Loophole”. Something to do with preparing a home for sale, rental, etc..... He swanned off to Greece to a second home a while ago.

I thought they could be prepared, but you couldn’t overnight, but who knows🤷‍♀️

You cannot leave your home or the place where you are living for holidays or overnight stays unless you have a reasonable excuse for doing so. This means that holidays in the UK and abroad are not allowed.

This includes staying in a second home, caravan or boat, if that is not your primary residence. This also includes staying with anyone who you don’t live with unless they’re in your support bubble.

You are allowed to stay overnight away from your home if you:

are visiting your support bubble
are unable to return to your main residence
need accommodation while moving house
need accommodation to attend a funeral or related commemorative event
require accommodation for work purposes or to provide voluntary services
are a child requiring accommodation for school or care
are homeless, seeking asylum, a vulnerable person seeking refuge, or if escaping harm (including domestic abuse)
are an elite athlete or their support staff or parent provided the athlete is under 18 and it is necessary to be outside of the home in order to take part in training or a competition
Guest accommodation providers such as hotels, B&Bs and caravan parks may remain open for the specific reasons set out in law.

Taken from Gov.UK website. Can't see any mention of second homes anywhere.

Have you got a link M or a reference point?
