Have CAMC over priced some sites

Just stayed mid August on the Chatsworth site costing over £35 per night for two people  on a standard pitch. During the week there were many unused pitches and even at weekends there were several not taken. Very few children and those there seemed to be with grandparents. August has to be the busiest month and previously you had to book Chatsworth well in advance to  have any hope of getting a pitch. A very nice site with superb wardens but it would seemed getting far too expensive. Surely better to charge less and fill a site to maintain profit margins than overprice and have reduced members attending.

I am not sure that Oneputt is negative about European touring David. I have no idea of their general view. With regard to cost however they are probably correct in as much as for them UK is cheaper.

I doubt that you choose to tour in Europe because it is cheaper overall. During my next tour the average cost will be around £25 a night I guess and if I toured for the same number of days (short 30 night tour) using sites such as you do David then I guess that it would bring the typical cost of stay to around £31 plus additional fuel. Not a problem

So do a lot of us who also tour abroad. I'm always puzzled by the claim that the forum demographic doesn't reflect the club as a whole. It is about as pertinent as claiming that forum members drive a particular colour tow car compared with the membership as a whole. Why should any particular subset not reflect the overall membership demographic. The only difference is possibly that retirees spend slightly more time on the forum.

Thank you for a brilliant question for an exam. It just simply cannot, statistically impossible unless it is a random sample. And this certainly isn't. It is basic GCSE stuff CY

It's like asking those that smoke about smoking laws or policy, or asking year 7 only in a whole school survey.

and that must be the understatement of the year undecided

so mostly retired. Mostly males? Mostly over a certain age. All quite well off (including KJ) or well off enough to afford a caravan or MH.

very true, so why all the fuss, if you want to go somewhere and it costs £35 per night and you can afford that price then go, if you can't afford the price or don't want to pay so much then don't go. It is all about managing your budget, e.g. 40 nights away at £30 per night, or 80 nights away at £15. I quite like fish & chips every Friday night with a pint, but at todays prices i only indulge every other Friday, simple.

Oh come you lot another thread closed because of the usual banter stuff, no need.

At this time in my life I dont go abroad, I choose not to, but I do read practically everything that's posted on the topic, caravans especially but MH stuff too. I want good and bad, I can make my own mind up, just.

I'll probably semi retire in the not too distant future, then one plan is I tow caravan foreign parts, Michelle who will still be working, then flies out for a fortnight, 4 week gap or so, flies out again for same, I return later on.

Which reverts back to this thread, UK cost's have risen beyond what the touring population want to pay, are caravan sales still booming?

The club has always been expensive, again I left 3 years ago, very happy to stay, but felt I was being ripped off for my York weekend breaks, and that was because of an extension of peak! Only back because of 1 site in February.

Booked another site because of booking protocols. Will I honour the final booking in October? Thats weather dependent, a holiday cottage is only £94 more expensive, and its fully serviced 😁. Will I rejoin? dunno yet.

Do I represent a typical group within us? You decide.
