New booking system with deposits

I haven't seen any confirmation or otherwise regarding this but have just read it on Faceache with a date of 25th June being, allegedly, given by a member of site staff for implementation.

UP TO DATE INFORMATION ON BOOKINGS

We are normally able to book for next June from today.
However this isn’t possible as the website is moving over to deposits in the next couple of weeks.
So at this time we cannot book anything for next June until the system is live.

Personally feel that deposits are a good idea. It must be really frustrating for both the Club & site staff to have 'no shows' without any communications from a booked member

Such people who lack basic courtesy deserve to lose their deposit !

Anyone genuine would be more than happy to pay a deposit. If you're definitely going to that site on the dates booked then if anything you're spreading the cost

I don't see it as any big deal

So if I book a 4 night stay as part of a tour next year giving the club 9 months notice and someone books for a week just 10 days beforhand they get priority if my booking happens to be the shortest.

What happened to the fairness in that booking situation? In addition I think this actually prejudices Motorhomers who like to book whilst on tour etc.

Totally agree. As I mention upthread, I don’t think that is what it originally said. If I remember rightly those who had booked longest ago were to be prioritised, which seemed a fairer system.

Perhaps the club thinks those staying longest are most likely to plough up the grass in wet conditions (remember them?) so are allocating those bookings to HS. If so, they’re completely overlooking the fact that several short stayers on grass are likely to cause as much, or more, damage.

WN. No it's only those who are in the present system before the cut off date. If you book ahead when the deposit system goes live you should be able to select your pitch type.

My memory is the same Steve but it doesn't matter to me because I no longer have any Club bookings.

Everyone in the present prelaunch system will get the chance to change and choose a pitch type if available (using a deposit) or cancel. It should sort out some speculative bookings. I can't see any other way round this situation.

Perhaps the club realise that when faced with the knowledge you've been allocated a grass pitch some will cancel the booking, so the club would rather risk loosing a couple of nights booking than say a 2 week booking

Those were my thoughts as well. It just doesn’t make sence.

I wouldn’t have any problem in paying a deposit to change from an allocated grass pitch to HS. Although it would be dependent on one being available. Cancelling  could be difficult if it is part of a tour.

That’ll be what they’ve done then. 🙄
