Just been to Kendal. It’s really sad to see Beales  being emptied with things being sold at a knockdown price. It was a good shop, selling quality clothes, shoes and household goods. Will certainly be missed if it does close. One or two of the staff were hopeful that a buyer would be found as apparently the building is owned and not rented.

On the way back I stopped at Low Sizergh Farm for lunch. Spotted what looks to be a small CL type site below the car park. Anyone know anything about this? Would be great for a short hop weekend if it was !

We have two Beales opposite each other, one has always focussed on furniture and household good and the other stocked clothes and luxury products, both have small restaurants and cover three floors each. In it's heyday my long gone granny shopped in Beales in Bournemouth, Beales were a Dorset family. Our local town, Yeovil, is expanding with huge new housing estates but the town centre is diminishing rapidly. frown

TDA good that your neighbour had a such a personal send off, a lot of people must have thought the same about him.

Brue, is Goldenstones Leisure Centre still open? I once went to a job interview there. Back in Paddy Ashdown’s time. Nice place.

One of our old established family shops (Palmers) was brought by Beals mid last year which is a shame.  Sports direct is opening in our old M&S store which closed 3 years ago.

So have you found Nirvana in IOW yet Triky? I think with your sales you've probably "burnt your boats now".smile  Good luck.

It’s was very new when I went down there DD, probably around 1996. I recall it being a nice centre. Been refurbished since then. The Council were still running it I think.
