Towing with Hybrid/electric cars

I know that the Mitsubishi Phev can tow, but what other hybrid/electric vehicles are out there which would comfortably tow a mid-range caravan weighing around 1,500 kgs?

I have looked at some forums and it seems to suggest that towing with a hybrid is not to be recommended.

We have a friend in Hampshire is now on his second Lexus hybrid and would not change to any other make,  he did have an Elddis but now tows an Adria no problems and very happy with his latest combination.

Yes, I was very happy towing with my Lexus, too. I only sold it because it was getting on a bit and I didn’t want to be faced with any possible costly repairs that come with age, not that I was actually expecting any. It never needed any more than replacement of regular wear and tear items.

I might be being melodramatic here, but if the range of towcars is deminishing, the death of our hobby is just over the horizon. Already unclean (sic) diesel vehicles are being taxed by the ULEZ area in London with many other cities following suit.  What is the Caravan and Motorhome Club doing to meet the challenge apart from sitting on its hands?  It will affect motorhomers too.

It’s been said many times, peg.

What can the club do? In the face of the Govt and (for the time being) the EU, they’re an impotent body.

One thing the club can do, and is doing, is to diversify so that other ways of holidaying are available to us. Hence the pods and Airstreams appearing on sites.

I think your questions are valid pegwr33 and it's also why CAMC started a discussion process on here two years ago.

I would be interested in hearing any updates from the club and some feedback. I would also like to know which site have charge points and whether more will become available.

I have read a lot of irrelevant responses and quite a few thoughtful ones too but further information from the club would be good to hear! smile

"What is the Caravan and Motorhome Club doing to meet the challenge"

You can charge your car for free on your pitch and have the option of staying in a pod or yurt on some sites  cool

Just buy a nice big euro 6 auto diesel and enjoy your hobby. Nothing is going to change things that drastically for a good few years yet.

Ah, what constitutes good public transport?! On strike, late, over crowded, goes where and when the operators and politicians decide i should go, uncomfortable, surrounded by people i dont want to be surrounded by, cant take my dog, limited space for sitting, shopping bags, no music choice, no climate control. In other words i want my choice to go when and where i want to go with whom i choose - or not. Stops every 50 yards to pick up every unwashed, shouting, drinking Tom, Dick and Harriot and their screaming brats. I am not cattle to be herded around on the whim of someone else who thinks they know better than me what i want. Yes i am ranting because i am fed up of being told when or where i cannot drive my car that i pay a hell of a lot of money to drive. If you want to use public transport that is YOUR choice, it aint mine and never will be.
