Hi everyone,

We wanted you to be the first to know about a new member offer with My Esso Card. The My Esso Card is a fuel card that provides savings at 1,300 Esso fuel stations to help drive down the cost of touring. Members are guaranteed to save on fuel at every Esso station across the UK with the only consumer facing fuel card.

We are the only organisation within the touring industry able to provide this offer to members.

What is the saving?

On average members will typically save 8p per litre on premium diesel or unleaded fuel and 5p per litre on standard diesel or unleaded fuel. That’s a typical saving of £5.60 per tank on premium fuel or £3.50 on standard fuel (based on 70 litre tank of fuel).

The saving varies based on the My Esso Card special rate and the Esso pump price rate. In the unlikely event that the pump price is lower than the My Esso Card special rate members are guaranteed to save 1p per litre on the pump price. You can use the My Esso Card to fill up all your vehicles, not just the one you tour with.

There are no fees to sign up and no transaction or processing fees. You can also earn your Tesco Clubcard points when filling up.

We are also running a competition for members for a chance to win free fuel.

To launch this great new offer, My Esso Card are giving Caravan and Motorhome Club members an exclusive chance to win free fuel. 10 lucky winners will win 175 litres of fuel and another 10 lucky winners 75 litres of fuel!  Members need to register for a card and fill by 31 December 2018 to be entered into the random prize draw.  Winners will automatically have the fuel credit added to their My Esso Card account.

To find out more about this member offer visit My Esso Card Member Offer on the Club website

I note that this week's text giving the upcoming prices has originated from PumpKing not MyESSOCard as before.

Very long time for web-site maintainance to be going on.

And of course (if any one is counting) still no card from applying in November!

Website maintenance should have nothing to do with the texts being sent. I think they aren't allowed to use the name myessocard anymore

I can confirm exactly as above. £1.253 for this week and my local Esso Garage is charging without the card £1.229. So over two pence per litre cheaper, mind you, the small print does say that in the even t it is dearer, you get 1p a litre off. Just not sure if that is off the published rice or forecourt price. Either way, certainly not a money saver in Aberdeen.

This weeks price for diesel as notified by the card operators is £1,253

price quoted by petrolprices.com at the same service station is £1.239 so where is the saving by using the card ? Will pop out over the road tomorrow and report back to what I was actually charged.

You will be charged £1.253, the receipt will say £1.239, but Pump King will debit your card at the higher price of 1.253. Just use the Debit card and don't bother with the esso card for at least this week.

Where does it say that in the small print? Looked in T&C's and no mention there unless I missed it.

Mind you why would you use the card at £1.253 when you get it for £1.229 even with the 1p off?

I too have noticed the steady increase in prices from Pump King which isn't reflective locally of fuel prices generally. They seem to be creeping lower.

I wonder if the response to this will be the usual 'due to overwhelming demand' and 'victim of our own success' statements or they started out as a loss leader to get people to sign up. Now they need to start making money. Pure speculation of course:)

Under Members' Offers - Esso card etc - towards the bottom, it says -

"Saving varies based on My Esso Card special rate and Esso pump price rate. On average members will save 8p per litre on premium diesel or unleaded fuel and 5p per litre on standard diesel or unleaded fuel. In the unlikely event that the forecourt fuel prices are cheaper than the My Esso Fuel prices, members are guaranteed to save a minimum of 1 pence per litre on any fuel type."

Did you not read that before signing up?

Ah see it now. Wonder if that's legally binding as it's not in the Pump-King T&C's that you sign up to. They're the ones I'm reading.

Also, seen no details about the free prize draw. Don't they legally have to announce the winners?

Until I get my refund and they start answering the phones (just get constant engaged tone) and respond to emails I'm not using it anymore.

I have used my esso card 3 times now and made savings each time against the local supermarket price. I have not used my card since the 6th January so I was surprised to receive an email from Pump King last night for my Diesel order from 16th January at 10:51 for £48.54. I have emailed Pump King and tried calling the number on the email this morning but it is constantly engaged. It looks like the £48.54 is scheduled to leave my bank account tomorrow. If anyone at the Club has any contacts at Pump King then any help in getting my money back would be much appreciated!

Not sure what number you have but I managed to get through this morning on 020 3468 8578, it was engaged all last week but did answer today.

Good grief dlw, is this issue not resolved yet ??!!

Your post's date suggests that you received the email on the 20th Jan for fuel drawn on the 16th. Some card holders, including myself, had a similar unexpected email on the 11th Jan and were assured that this was due to a system software glitch. If you check the amount charged, you may find the latest email is for an amount which is exactly the same as some or all of your previous purchases and has been double charged.. If you email pump-king accounts@pump-king.co.uk they should issue a refund if it charged in error.

If this issue is indeed still happening it is far from satisfactory.
