Great site for Peace and Quiet

we visited Slate Drift in July for 7 days, Rodger the owner was very friendly and welcoming, we were lucky to have a good choice of pitches as there was only 2 taken we parked our motorhome facing the view across the valley what a great view it is, not far into Stamford for shopping . the only thing which would make this site better would be the over hanging trees need to be cut back a bit, apart from that its a great site, hope to book again soon.

What a beautiful site. Roger made us very welcome. Very easy to get into Stamford. The views across the valley are amazing and so peaceful. We will definitely be returning.

Second visit

After a splendid week here last year we simply had to come back for a few days to break our journey home from Norfolk. Exactly the same outstanding welcome from Roger. Sunday lunch in the Slater pub is a sight to behold, never seen such big portions! Hope to return.

Caravan June 2022

Brilliant quiet site with far-reaching views. Roger was extremely helpful & we enjoyed the books he let us borrow on Stamford & Collyweston slate mining. So much to do in the area - loads of houses to visit (eg Burghley House & Deene Park) & Rutland Water for birdwatchers & water enthusiasts.

Excellent site. Very easy access from both A1 and A47. Friendly and helpful owner. Spacious and level with great views. Some shade for hot weather. We agree about the very interesting guided walk of Stamford. Many easily accessible places of interest including Burghley House, Kirby Hall and Rutland Water.

Perfect spot for visiting this beautiful part of the country

Stayed June 2022 for 5 nights. The site is great. Level, plenty of space, very well kept. Lovely views to the west to see great sunsets. If you like a quiet, spacious, welcoming place to stay, then you won’t be disappointed. And your host Roger is great! If you are visiting Stamford I would strongly recommend the Mayors Guides guided walking tour of the town. Takes about 90 minutes and is entertaining and informative. Also the open air theatre at Tolthorpe Hall is a magical way to spend a summer evening.

Tranquil site

We spent the weekend here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner is helpful and friendly. Views are beautiful, walking from site with or without dogs, our two loved it. Highly recommended for a chill out weekend. We will be returning.

Belting CL

Spent a week here in August, one of the best CLs we have used, and we have used many! Very quiet as it’s set well back from the A43 so almost no traffic noise. The views are amazing, so too is the nearby Collyweston Slaters pub, which we would highly recommend. Some nice walks possible from site, we walked to and from Stamford on good footpaths but found it tiring. There is a bus service from nearby Ketton on the route from Uppingham to Stamford via Rutland Water, but sadly it doesn’t come up to Collyweston. Roger is very friendly and helpful as others have commented.

Stayed on the site for 4 nights. We'd asked about bus routes a couple of days before our stay and when we arrived Roger had kindly sorted out details of the Call Connect bus service which he gave to us. The site was excellent, the grass was well mown, the views were fantastic and the atmosphere very relaxed and welcoming. We can't thank Roger enough for the information he gave us and we will return but not when the temperature is well above 30 degrees every day.

Slate Drift

We stayed at 30 Slate Drift for four nights and found it an excellent level grass CL site with great views across the countryside . The site is very well kept and very secure so no problems there. The area is a dog owner and walkers dream with safe walks directly from the site . Rutland Water is close and worth a visit as is Oakham which we found really pleasant. Roger , the owner is pleasant and will always answer your queries . In all an excellent site well worth a stay and fully recommended.
