Rain and more rain

Overnight stay en route south, close to motorways. Everywhere very muddy due to awful weather so the hard standing was appreciated. The site field would be nice in the summer......Now £25. Really nice to be near the canal for walking, didn't make the pub as it was raining too hard!

A mixed bag

The owners are lovely and have been on site for 30 years the field is behind their static site which you need to drive theough. It was in need of some TLC but owner said he was in process of updating. Plenty of space although if you want electric they're all together near the entrance where there is some hardstanding. There is access to the canal back through the static site with a lovely walk to The Anchor Inn. It is next to the motorway, road noise doesn't bother us but others might. It's surrounded by fields and trees so feel really rural. Chemical waste is right next to one pitch so was glad we didn't stay there. Fresh water tap as well. The bins are back out past the double gates. No other facilities, couldn't find drive over grey waste but forgot to ask. It's great for a one night stopover just off the motorway.

Lovely people who made us feel very welcome

We have stayed on this site twice now & will definitely be staying again. The owners are lovely people and very friendly. There was a power cut quite late the one night & Nino came out to make sure that we were ok & to check if we needed anything. We really appreciated the care & kindness that we were shown. I was there late one night on my own and felt very safe knowing the owners were so close by. The site is very close to the canal and some lovely walks in both directions. We loved our stay there & are already planning our next visit.

Excellent CL

Excellent all round. Very easy to find , a lovely welcome by the owners who were a joy to chat to. Site is big with huge pitches overlooking fields. Very easy access into Wolverhampton on my bike taking 15 minutes and also next to the lovely canal. Was a pleasure to stay on your site , will be back soon. Many Thanks Simon.

Overnight stop - difficult access

We stopped here overnight. The owners were friendly and accommodating considering we arrived late due to bad traffic. The access into the site is very difficult with a caravan. There’s a hanging metal sign post which I had to get out and move to avoid it hitting while my husband drove in. You then drive through a mobile home estate which also causes narrow spaces due to awkwardly parked cars. No toilet/shower but electric. It was just off the motorway so ideal overnight stop but wouldn’t wish to stay any longer.

Overnight Stop

We stayed overnight at Hordern Lodge on our way to the Yorkshire Dales from Devon. The site is easy to access, although be aware of the metal sign at the entrance gates, I got perilously close with the caravan when turning in. The site is currently being relocated to an adjoining field, with five hardstandings, all with electric hook up. Water and waste are close by too. The canal is just up the road, and this makes an ideal dog walk. Although it is close to the M54, the traffic noise was not a problem. We would stay here again on our way up north.

Hordern Lodge is convenient for the Black Country and surrounding areas being close to the junction of A449 and M54, from which there is some background vehicle noise. It is easy to find, therefore, but needs care driving through the mobile home park particularly if you have a large outfit. I have used it a number of times over the past six years when visiting family, as it was convenient for public transport, even though I considered it rather expensive (£17 last year) And members should be aware the price per night for 2017 is £20, not 14 as in the book and on-line. Nice Site - November 2014

I am not sure what site jknigh0 was reviewing but it does not match the site that I visited. The site is level with all pitches and access on shingle beds. It has a nice well kept lawned play/picnic area with seating provided. The site is surrounded by well maintained hedge which provides more than adequate seclusion. The owner and their daughter were very welcoming and in fact the daughter currently lives in her own caravan on the edge of the site so provides additional security. The only downside is that if you have a large outfit, mine is a 6 berth caravan and Insignia estate, the access is tight through the Mobile Home site and must be handled with care. Will be going back.

unsuitable for a cl

We arrived at Hordern park and was very unhappy with the quality of cl , we have used many cl,s some very good some and most ok , but Hordern park was terrible very untidy grass all overgrown ,i feel maybe the site was once better cared for but has been left to become very mistreated .Sercurity was not very good as its attached to a mobile home estate and we couldnt close the gate to the field due to it being overgrown we didnt feel safe leaving our caravan to go out for an evening meal . I am very disapointed to have to give a a bad review on one of your cl's , i think it would be a good idea for the caravan club to visit the site to see for themselves that the standard is not up to scratch .
