Beautiful CL with plenty of space.

This is a beautiful CL set in the Essex countryside and 'Spacious' simply is inadequate to describe it. We have never seen a CL with this much open space for 5 pitches and there are multiple EH connections thereby giving lot of choice where to site your caravan/motorhome. The single photo on the CMT site doesn't really do justice to the amount of space available. (I'll send the owner some of my photos). It has to be said that Stanstead airport is about 10 miles away and there is some aircraft noise at the site but distant enough not to be intrusive. Facilities are good and clean but the toilet, shower and information room all share the same single room - during our stay with all five pitches occupied we never once failed to have use of the toilet or shower when desired. The shower itself is enormous. Care needs to be taken between the B184 and Abbess Roding village as either road is narrow but School Lane (preferred route) does have fairly good visibility and passing places.

The best CL we have stayed on

Our first time on this site, loved it, quiet, clean, great facilities. We will definitely stay again. We did  use our sat nav coming off the M11, it took us along very narrow country lanes. We now know not to do that again.

Relaxing, spacious & quiet.

Lovely short stay. Just as all other reviews have commented - simple and quite a large site for just 5 caravans to share. We took the children and they gave it a big thumbs up. Thank you for our lovely stay.

Peace and quiet

First time we have stayed at this site and it won't be the last. Unfortunately we only stayed a few nights but we had a very peaceful and relaxing quiet time. The mainly level flat site was big enough for the 5 vans to be spread out. The all grass site was kept very short. The toilet and shower facilities are in one large room with a large free shower. The site operates a very keen recycling system. We will definitely return.

So Pretty

This site is so pretty and we will definitely be returning.  It was spacious and well kept with flat pitches.  Recycling is essential but the bins are well labelled.  We filled up our motor home tank with water easily by reversing up to the tap.  The chemical waste area was also easily accessible.   We didn't use the showers or toilet as we have our own so can't comment on them.   A fabulous 2 night stay.  We will be back soon.

Fantastic CL

This is one of the best CLs we have stayed at. Plenty of space on a quiet, well kept and maintained site. The pitches are flat. The site is in a rural setting in a small village. Plenty of walks in the surrounding area and a pub close by. The toilet and shower block was clean and tidy and there was also some very good information and maps provided. Will definitely return at some point.

The perfect CL

We have used many CL's in the last 18 years; this has to be easily in the top three we have stayed on, if not THE best. Well organised, well maintained, very clean toilet and shower, flat pitches with plenty of space, peace and quiet, yet still with that rustic charm of being on a working farm which is so appealing. Although Stansted is fairly close the planes do not intrude (in early August they were passing every few minutes) but were really enjoyable to watch. They stop at about 10 pm when all you can hear are owls....fantastic. We definitely plan to return. Take some good books/films, and enjoy. Tourists and tourist attractions are few and far between...Perfect.

Abbess Roding

This is a fantastic sites in a lovely part of Essex, with nice walks in the surrounding countryside. Although the local pub is not really easy to walk too.The shower and toilet info room was all in one room but we never had to wait long. We never met the owners just put money in the door. Lots of wildlife around and you can see dear if your lucky. Close to Ongar and local restuarants etc, a great weekend in the country.
