Peaceful stay.

We have spent a week here and it is the most peaceful and lovely site. It is a really good base for visiting Whitby and all the surrounding villages. This is the third time we have stayed here and this Certainly won’t be the last.

Great stay

Gorgeous site with amazing views over to Whitby. Local pub 5minutes walk away serving quality food. Frank the owner was very friendly and a font of knowledge for the local area. A most enjoyable stay in May 2022 as part of a road trip in our T2 campervan - we will return!

Mixed

We stayed at this CL recently. It had come very highly recommended so we were looking forward to our holiday. On arrival we saw our name (incorrectly spelt) on the board with our pitch number . We set up and settled in. The site really is beautiful….. wonderful views. The next morning the owner came to visit us early. He actually wanted to settle up for the week and didn’t have a lot of time for a chat. My husband was quite surprised as he understood from his friend that it was a very relaxed site offering lots of advice on good areas for walking. Obviously not today! He then told my husband that there would be a £ 3 charge per night for our awning. On the entry board it quite clearly stated large awnings were £4 a night, small awnings £2 a night. We have a small porch awning but were told it was a medium awning. When my husband questioned this the owner was in fact quite rude and insisted we paid the higher rate. I know this may sound quite petty but it really was not a very good start to our holiday. We paid up and never saw the owner again. What a shame. A lovely site but I doubt we will visit it again or recommend it to anyone due to the unfriendly owner.

Superb Site

We spent four nights here as part of our Yorkshire road trip, and would definitely stay here again if in the area. The site is kept immaculate by the owner ensuring that the grass is kept mown short. He also rotates the pitches to ensure that the site is kept in good condition from awning use. There is a spectacular view from the site of the sea and the historic Whitby Abbey. It’s also on a bus route just outside the site. We caught the bus from there to Whitby which took less than 15 minutes. We didn’t try the pub in the village, but believe it comes highly recommended. A great place to stay.

A fabulous Visit......

We have just spent 8 nights at Abbey View, really enjoy staying here and have stayed many times over the years and do plan to return as soon as possible. The site is very easy to find and the entrance is wide enough to ensure easy access, it's an all grass site that drains well and is regularly cut by the farmer (Frank). A large and very peaceful site with plenty of space and great views to the coast and Whitby Abbey, dogs are welcome but have to be exercised off site with country paths/bridalways close by and there is a superb bus service into Whitby (about 10-15 minutes) and onto Scarborough. A good local pub with food (The Forge) in the village a 8 minute walk from the site. The site is very central for the North Yorkshire coast, the North York Steam Railway or a trip onto the moors with Grosmont and Goathland within easy distance,

Excellent views

Easy site to find on a good side road, follow the instructions in the site guide, sat navs take you into Ailasby. There is a notice board at the field gate with your allocated pitch number. The closely mown grass field is fairly flat but some adjustments are needed. There are some really excellent views over toward Whitby from most pitches. Lorraine the owner comes the day after arrival and makes you feel very welcome. The site has good access to Whitby, park and ride, Sainsbury’s supermarket, North Yorkshire Moors and the east coast attractions. Definitely recommend this site and will definitely be returning.

Coast & Country Views

Just stayed at Abbey View, Whitby with spacious pitches and stunning coastal and country views. We had a warm welcome from Lorraine, who provided written info about the site. There are coastal, country and river walks nearby and the village pub is within walking distance. We were very happy to pay for 2 nights in order to enable us to leave later on the Sunday night. Looking forward to returning.

Stunning Spot!

This CL is simply stunning, beautiful views across Whitby. The site is maintained really well. We were in a motorhome, so use bikes for transport, it was a 2/3 miles cycle into Whitby ... uphill on the way back! Great spot.

A beautiful site

This site has a real feeling of space and serenity. There are glimpses of Whitby abbey across fields of wheat and a lovely view down the valley at the end of the site. It is 5 minutes to the p&r to Whitby or there is a half hourly bus from nearby Aislaby where there is a pub just around the corner. Everything is handy on site and the owner Loraine is lovely.

Not much more to be said.

This CL is one of the best we have been to, especially for the stunning views. There is not a lot I can add to all the previous reviews, they are all spot on. It is very difficult to find anything negative to say and at only £14.00 per night in 2021 (awnings slightly extra) it is great value. The only 'improvement' would be to have serviced pitches but this may be difficult as the pitch markers are constantly being repositioned to give the grass time to recover. In any case, there are two water taps on site with tremendous water pressure which can fill an aquaroll within about a minute. The WC disposal point seemed, on first inspection, to be a bit small but in use it was no problem at all. We rarely go back to any CL as we like to visit different places but we will probably make an exception with this one. Thanks, Lorraine, for making our stay so enjoyable.
