Pleasant and very cheap site

The access to this site could be quite difficult if you have a long outfit. The site itself is very pleasant as previously said. The lawn is short and the hedges well maintained however, it looks rather ramshackle on the approach in. One minor gripe is that there are notices about clearning up after your dog. The site's dog thoughtfully left us a lovely little present right at the bottom of the caravan step, which would not have been pleasant if either of us had to go out with our dog in the night! That said it is very good value for money at £8.00 per night including electrics. We saw nothing of the owners all weekend and when we ready to depart I had to try and track down soemeone to give the money to. Also I tried using email for booking and after waiting several days without any reply I phoned and was told that no-one bothers to check the email much. There is little point having an email contact if no-one is going to check if there any any booking enquiries.

A nice surprise!

As others have said, the access to the site can be tricky, we almost overshot it, a CC sign on the other side of the entrance would be helpful! That said, the site is very pleasant albeit quite shady on some pitches due to the high trees surrounding, and most require levelling blocks - the site owners have loads of timber available for this. The site has a slightly ramshackle appearance and with a bit of effort the owners could make quite an attraction of it. A short walk downhill provides access to the no 5 bus service to Cromer, Sherringham, Holt and North Walsham, and it's not far into Cromer, so it's possible to leave your vehicle on site for the duration of your stay, useful for MV owners.

A great stay in a nice place

We stayed on this CL for 5 nights in July 2013. After a somewhat tricky entrance with a fairly long outfit (sharp right turn and quite steep drive up to site), we were amazed at the how lovely the site was. A lawned. sunny woodland glade divided by a well trimmed hedge to provide some privacy, we were impressed! Facilities were clean and well thought out providing drinking water, chemical waste disposal and recycling facilities. The surrounding trees did not shade the site to any great degree, but you could choose either a sunny or shaded pitch. Cromer and all its attractions were a very short drive away, and it was perfectly placed to access all parts of the north Norfolk coast. Other members on site had found some difficulty in finding the entrance to the CL and it is quite concealed. A 'walk' up the road with Google Earth prior to the journey ensured this did not happen to us! We did discover however, that access to the drive was easier (if following the route recommended in the sites book) if you pass the entrance and go half a mile further up the road where you can easily swing round a large outfit at the entrance to a commercial caravan site and then approach the CL entrance from the other way. (Be careful not to go past the commercial site entrance though as the road narrows very much past that point).

Please look after the site on weekdays!

Having booked this site for 5 nights we were looking forward to our first break in months. Approaching from Cromer it is not that easy to find as the caravan club CL sign is only on one side of the drive so can be easily missed. The site is sloping but levelling blocks sorted that. It is well set out and very private BUT the chap who had just trimmed the hedges before we arrived decided to pick up all the clippings over several days. Now, I understand this has to be done and of course this helps keep the place in a decent state but please, if you are going to use a small vehicle with a VERY loud tickover whilst carrrying out the work, PLEASE switch it off! Or even better, use a barrow ! We had to tolerate constant noise during this operation, but when he turned up on Sunday afternoon about 1.15pm just as folk were settling down for a peaceful afternoon and started again, I'm afraid that was the final straw. Most of us caravan for the peace and quiet and to listen to that interminable row on a Sunday afternoon was quite frankly awful. It went on for about an hour and a half. It was almost as though he had to be surgically removed from the infernal machine. We would go again but not before I checked whether the hedges were to be clipped or any other activity requiring the use of vehicle and trailer was going to take place.
