An excellent encore

It keeps raining when we stay here, so I'm giving it two stars. Just kidding! :-) Stayed here before, and enjoyed it, came back, and enjoyed it again. A lovely and peaceful spot with delightful owners and great facilities. Just about the only negative thing I can find to say is that it's close to a road along which people occasionally drive too fast late at night or early in the morning. But that's noticeable only because it's rare, and is hardly the fault of the site. We were woken early, but not by the road noise: by wild geese and various other fowl landing in the field next door and greeting the dawn very enthusiastically. I can think of worse ways to wake up! All in all, definitely recommended. I'm sure we'll be back for a third stay.

Perfect stay, beautiful site and lovely owners

What an absolute gem this site is, there is really nothing that Lorna and David have not thought of. The summerhouse contains fridge and freezer full of yummy food, drinks, ice creams etc. Hens lay delicious eggs right there on site. The site itself is very pretty and well laid out with lovely views over the fields. There is a nice quiet road to walk the dog along and it is so well placed for the beautiful area it’s in. I really enjoyed my weekend there, but be warned, it is so well loved it’s a devil to get booked in. Don’t let that put you off because it’s so worth it. We stayed with a friend who rented the shepherds hut, it is really lovely with its own garden and a hot tub (exclusive use for shepherds hut only). We had a wonderful weekend and can’t wait to book again and go back. Best CL I’ve ever stayed at, without a doubt.

Delightful

I can only agree with others: this is a delightful location, with great facilities, and very friendly owners. We had an enjoyable stay, despite the rain(!), and would be very happy to come back again.

Wonderful stay over Christmas

We absolutely loved Barleywood, spent 3 nights over Christmas and enjoyed every minute! Well spaced out pitches, lovely walks along the lane for the dogs ( they even stayed clean!) great facilities too. So quiet and peaceful and will definitely return . Amazed at how well drained the grass was even after a night of heavy rain. Thank you Lorna and David for creating such a special place .

Back again and will keep returning

Can't remember how many times we have been to Barleywood but it must be 15 to 20. Usual warm welcome from Lorna and David to their immaculate site. This is a site that we feel very comfortable on. Free wifi, 2 x toilets/showers, washing up facilities, washing machine, information point, newspaper delivery, serviced pitches all for just £15/night. Plenty of puns and shops around, Fakenham about 4 miles. The attraction for us is the wildlife and over the last 4 days counted over 30 species of birds whilst sitting in the van. Birdwatching opportunities at: Sculthorpe community nature reserve Burnham Norton Burnham Overy Staithe Stifkey NWT Cley RSPB Titchwell RSPB Snettisham NWT Holme

Lovely quiet site

If the owners are not around when you arrive your pitch number is in the information kiosk on the fridge. Friendly helpful owners. Well cut grass field with a slight slope. No hard standing but each pitch has electric hookup. Adults only. Lots of extra facilities. No need to worry if you run out of milk, bread, chocolate or ice cream there are plenty to buy in the information kiosk! Definately come back here again.

The best CL in the country

Barleywood is by far the best CL in the country. Everything you could possibly require from a CL, Barleywood has in abundance. A flat field with pitches well away from each other. Water taps and 16amps of power on each pitch and grey water can be piped directly to the nearby trees. There are very clean and stocked shower rooms and a fantastic shop catering for al;l your possible needs. Catering for dogs whilst you are away if required and adults only, so no peskey kids! Great area for walks with the coast only 10 minutes drive away. Try Burnham Overy Staythe. Local pub is excellent for food and real ale and is dog friendly. First class all round. Have already booked for our next visit.

The best cl we've stayed on.

David and Lorna take their responsibilities very seriously and keep the site in great condition. The two shower rooms are very clean and well equipped. The information shed has dishwashing facilities and a fridge and freezer, offering a sensible range of food and drinks (honesty box for payment). The pitches each have water supply and waste water can be put directly into hedge. Lovely site that's worth a stay, but book early - they are very popular.

Lovely site

As has been said before - this site has everything you need. Large pitches with water on the tap, waste water into the hedge behind. A fair bit of road noise but that cant be helped. We've used a lot of cls and arrival instructions are usually very clear- however when we arrived we did what we normally do and found an empty pitch only to be told it was reserved and we should have gone into info hut for our pitch number. Maybe a notice board or something on the booking page could make this clear for new arrivals. Slightly disconcerting to find there were 6 vans on site on our last night- not really in keeping with the 5 van rule. I lose a bit of respect for somewhere when his happens.

Another great stay

First visit this autumn and it just gets better and better! David and Lorna keep their CL immaculate in every respect. Great bathrooms, other facilities serviced pitches and great locations. A bit sad that the Barn Owl's have gone for the moment. Great area for wildlife watching, really spoiled for choice. As well as Titchwell, Cley etc don't for get the wildlife reserve at Sculthorpe. Barleywood is a great place to stay if you are visiting the Christmas show at Thursford.
