1st Cl

Stayed here for a week back in August 2022 and it was my first ever CL stay! It has completely changed the type of sites i look at and book. The site is quite, lovely large pitches and on a walking path which leads to both Tissington and Ashbourne. Everything was very clean, pitches were separated by the longer grass and you are nowhere near any main roads making it very peaceful. Perfect for those wanting to bike on the Tissington Trail and also those looking to go hiking as there are some excellent trails nearby ! One i will definitely look to return to in the future

Fabulous CL

Just had a weekend stay on this CL - absolutely wonderful, wish we could have stayed longer... We were in a decent size field on grass pitches - grass kept cut short with uncut sections between pitches which we thought was a nice touch. Excellent views and extremely quiet. Grey waste, chemical toilet disposal and rubbish/recycling bins tucked away behind a screen and within easy reach of all pitches. Access is straightforward via a single track lane with wide verges making passing easy - a few minutes into Ashbourne which is a lovely little town to wander around. Bit further to Bakewell which offers more facilities but is always very busy. Another great CL to add to our list of ones to return to!

Excellent site, in a beautiful location.

We as a family of 4 (2 adults, and 2 children) stayed here for 8 nights during the school summer holidays in August. Our welcome from the proprietor of the site, Gavin was very nice. We were directed to a small separate field with two hardstanding pitches in it, we had this to ourselves for the whole stay. The whole site is very well kept, the WC, grey waste and elsan point all in good order and clean. The recycling facilities are also well organised and regularly emptied. There is an abundance of traffic free, family cycling from this site, and the local village of Tissington is lovely and quiet, and generally has a feeling of being super safe. The local town of Ashbourne is worth a visit at the end of the Tissington trail (easy access from the site), there are plenty of dining and shopping options here. Overall this location will suit many different holiday requirements. We will return in future.

Super CL

Lovely CL waking up to the morning birdsong. Well laid with plenty of space on your pitch. Very clean and tidy, grass kept like a lawn. Plenty of walks for your dog and you. Easy going if your disabled. Would l recommend this CL......yes. Found the owners very accommodating and helpful. (Trevor Fry and Pam Dare)

Another fabulous stay on this great site

We stayed on the site at the beginning of April and have had many pleasurable stays here which is why we return. It’s so peaceful and the views are fantastic. The site is well maintained and everything is to hand. Lynn and Gavin Maule are superb owners and with great communication it felt like they had our best interests and safety in mind. Thanks to you both. Lynn bakes some marvellous scones that you can order to take away as a cream tea. Highly recommended and just right for sitting outside the caravan on a sunny day It’s only a 20 minute walk into Tissington view the road or over the fields. Ashbourne is 20 minutes drive away and has Lots of shops, cafés, restaurants, a nice deli and butchers. Lots of walks from the site including the Tissington Trail. And Thorpe cloud Highly recommended for a relaxing stay.

Location, location, location! This site ticks all the boxes!!!

If you’re looking for a site that is in a picturesque location, near to a very pretty village, even closer to a 13 mile off road cycle trail; and want hardstanding, water, a WC and electricity then I can highly recommend Bassettwood farm Cl in Tissington, Derbyshire. All for £20 a night! We’re currently at this site and have to say that it’s a hidden gem! There are 2 hardstanding pitches on 1 small field and grass pitches on a adjacent field. The pitches are currently surrounded by gorgeous little lambs and their mothers. There’s use of a WC in the farmhouse building. The tv signal is ok and the 4g phone signal is good enough to stream Netflix etc. Tissington village is less than a mile away, via the tarmac access road to the site. Tissington is lovely and has a superb tea room, butchers shop and old fashioned sweet shop. Definitely well worth a visit. But if you like cycling then just a few hundred metres from the site is access to the Tissington trail which is an old railway line that is now a cycle path. It’s picturesque and very easy to ride. You can ride 5 miles to Ashbourne town or 8 miles to the cafe at parsley hay. It’s perfect for children and people like us who enjoy not too strenuous cycling 🥴 If what I’ve written ticks your boxes then add this site to your list! You won’t be disappointed! — at Bassettwood Farm

A well run CL.

We enjoyed 4 nights here in mid March. We used one of the two hard standings with EHU in a small attractive enclosure. We like cls where the owner is nearby in case of any problems. Here we had a warm welcome from Gavin who was running a small b&b in the old farm house. Whilst we were there we saw them mowing and preparing the 5 grass pitches for the start of the summer season. The grass looked immaculate and the views across the valley superb. It is a good base to explore the Tissington trail, Dovedale and NT Illam Hall. There was a wc in the farmhouse, I believe the shower was out of action because of covid precautions.

Well kept site, very convenient for wonderful Tissington Trail

The site is very well kept with individually mown pitches and a well organised facilities area. It was a little strange to see rather severe 'rules' notices on every pitch about where grey water must be emptied. The owners were not able to meet us at all during the four days we stayed here, but communication was adequate by text messages. This trip with our bikes reminded us once again that the Tissington Trail is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable such locations in the country, and it was great to be located just outside this lovely village, and so able to ride the Trail in two sections.

Lovely Farm CL

A very pleasant stay in a beautiful area located very close to the pretty village of Tissington and the Tissington Trail. Lovely site with well kept service points. We stayed on the hardstanding in front of the farmhouse which we had to ourselves. Very welcoming owners, would definitely return.
