Just had a 3 night stay as part of a longer tour and found the site to be as we expected. Very warm welcome and helpful with local knowledge to save us hassle when out and about. The site was beautifully kept but traffic and rail noise are apparent as mentioned in other reviews. This said though, unless your specifically after total tranquillity, it isn't a problem and can easily be ignored. The facilities are clean and pleasant but I did find (just personal opinion) the 40p charge for a shower a tad penny pinching. Would recommend as a base for full days out and would use this site again.
Well kept site
We booked this site last minute as needing to stay somewhere within reasonable travel distance of Liverpool Golf Course. Good access and site well kept with the bonus of a shower (20p meter). Ideal for walking/cycling to Chester and to the local country pub for an evening. background Traffic noise from A road continuous day and night but tolerable and builders yard not really an issue. Good stopover for a few days
Excellent Site and LocalPlacesOfInterest
We stayed at this site for 11 nights in April 2014 and found the location lovely and peaceful and the hosts very welcoming and friendly. The location is very good for access to the main attractions of the area and excellent public transport access with a bus stop just outside the site. We never had any issues with traffic noise or from the builder’s yard across the road so I cannot comment on what others have reported. Only issue for us was that the nearest place to walk the dogs was a little bit away from the site. We will definitely use this site again.
Lovely spot
We arrived to a warm and friendly welcome. The site was clean and well kept with well cut grass and excellent facilities. The toilet block consists of only one loo and shower but with only five pitches there's no need to queue. The toilet and shower were cleaned daily.
There were some other dog owners on the site (we've got two well behaved dogs) and apart from the odd rare bark they were very well behaved themselves - no dog mess anywhere on site. There's a handy dog walking lane just 100yds from the site entrance anyway which is pretty nice even if you don't have a dog.
The road is close and noisy at times but by the third night we were used to it and it didn't impair our enjoyment of the site.
Just a few miles from Chester which is a truly beautiful, historic city.
There's some good pubs nearby and our favourite was the Shrewsbury Arms which had great beer and food and was easily within walking/crawling distance.
Altogether a nice site to visit. We'll be back.
Beech Farm
We stayed here for a week. Arrived and was allocated a pitch which was nice. Facilities clean and shower and toilet which are combined are very clean. The shower is coin operated. This site is on a busy road and opposite a builders yard, there is a lot of road noise and beeping from the forklift trucks in the builders. Unfortunately two noisy families arrived each had two children and two dogs, one family had the loudest barking dogs I have ever know, I was glad to get home for a bit of peace and quiet, never felt so stressed out in my life.
Nice but noisy
Stayed there last weekend, friendly welcome, nice grounds and excellent clean shower, but alas, too noisy. Our pitch was 20m away from the very busy A56. I'm not a light sleeper but was woken up several times by motorbikes and lorries thundering past at night!!!
Yearly visit
Site is in a village, in a large lawned area screened by high conifers, there is quite a lot of road noise. There is a small washroom with electric shower-(40-60p). 5 mins from site is a bus stop into Chester which is usually around £10.00 return for a family. Site is clean and well maintained. There is a trendy pub up the road-The Chesterfield. We have used the site a number of times and it is usually always full.
