Better than previous review

We were concerned as the previous review was a bit worrying and we had a phone call two nights before arrival to say the lawned area was too wet and would we be happy in the farm yard - we said we would risk it. The welcome was good and they had even arranged things so we could have our awning up. The owners are building an extension and it is a working yard but it was fine. Could not be more convenient for visiting Newcastle and a large supermarket on the way to the local parking/bus stop. Easy to see The Angel of the North. Not the prettiest site we have ever stayed on but welcoming, and very conveneint for what we wanted to do. We would go back if we wanted to be near Newcastle.

Shocking

This cl site is shocking the field was not in use as it was damp and he had not cut the grass. We were put on the hard standing it was like a builders yard. They were doing building work and thats ok but they should of told us. The electric was supposed to be 6 amp but i have been on sites with 6amp and have been able to run 2 to 3 items on it fridge, radio and hot water no problem but not here it was tripping all the time. At £20 a night i think its too much

Nice little site

We stayed here a saturday night in August, it is £15 with electric and although 6amp, I was able to use hairdryer/straighteners/ kettle so all was fine. The site is quite small but very pretty with a lovely horse in the next paddock. There is a popular pub very close which looked very nice. We found there was very little road noise and quiet at night. Just a point when you need to empty the loo you have to go to the house to ask for access as its round the back, saves you hunting around like we did. We would stay again.

We will be back!

This is a lovely clean and tidy caravan site. We were given a warm welcome on arrival. We had a good nights sleep, very peaceful during the night. Our visit was nothing like the previous reviews and we have been before.

Much improved - Ideal location for Gateshead and Surroundings

We have stayed at this site a number of times in the past and I am pleased to report that the camping area is now securely fenced in from the owners dogs. The 5 pitches are spacious and well maintained with good access into adjoining fields ideal for dog walking. The adjacent lane is by my standards peaceful although cars can be heard from time to time. Walking distance to the Ravensworth Arms (10 mins) with excellent menu. 6 amp electric so be prepared to use gas to heat and cook, but adequate for fridge and air conditioning. Elsan disposal could be improved. 10 minutes Drive to metro centre, Angel of the North and Team Valley. Highly recommended site with basic well maintained facilities.

Below standard site

Booked in April 2017. Despite being told by the owners that the site was quiet, it is next to a noisy busy minor road. It has light slope, which wasn't a problem, but the owners dogs poo on the pitches was. (The site is basically their large front lawn) A cheap site very handy for Newcastle, but best avoided.

Disgusted

Stayed on the site for 3 nights so we could visit the local area, as it was perfectly situated for this. It does have a slight slope on the field but nothing to really worry about with blocks. The first night was ok, apart from the 6amp power which you have to be careful about! But then it started....the owners let their dogs use the field as a loo, there was at least 6 'presents' around our van. Disgusting! I would expect a bit more diligence from the owners, it was only £10 a night but even so ....they need to get there act together!

Dog loo

Stayed here in 2015. Field slopes a lot so little chance of side to side level unless at bottom of site. Only 6 amps which can be difficult. Main problem is dog mess. The owners 2 dogs use it as a loo and left 3 presents around our van, unfortunately I only found 2! The 3rd was on my shoe. A shame as this site is very convenient for Newcastle.

3 day stay early May 2016

Chose Beldy as the only CL near Newcastle to visit my daughter at uni. We stayed on hard standing but the grass pitch was beautifully kept. A very warm welcome with a spare toilet roll and a cup of milk for a brew. Toilet on site. Fresh eggs £3.00 for a dozen. 20 mins to Newcastle centre. Nice walk nearby. Will go again.

Gradual slope

We stayed here for the weekend whilst in the area for the great north run , it was a last minute booking as traffic hookups on the m1 meant we would not be at a club site in time to pitch so we changed destination , we were met at the gate and welcomed then showed the facilities which are basic to say the least 6A hookups , manhole to lift for elsan by getting fingers under edge of lid , toilet with no paper , no light , and broken locks on the door . This is a dog friendly sight and that couldn't be more accurate , the owners have two terriers which freely wander the site and jump up when you are about , the field is there usual toilet and by the amount of dirt I would say they only clean up when they mow . The site is sloped and levelling is difficult ,
