Excellent stay at this lovely site.

We really had a lovely stay at Bide Yer and concur with the other very positive reviews here. The site has a wonderful view over the fields towards Bridport and the sea, there were bullocks in the next field while we were there and they are very entertaining! Our visit coincided with the Bridport Festival of Hats, which was fun and certainly worth a visit. We will definitely book to stay again when we are next in this area of Dorset.

Just perfect

Meant to do this review as soon as we got back on Saturday 8th July, but other stuff got in the way! However, we must thank Alan and Gill for such a lovely stay. Their communication with us was terrific and we were welcomed by Alan as we arrived - he was working hard with his strimmer. Having personal water tap and grey waste drainage, as well as EHU, is always a big plus for us - hate having to use the aquaroll nowadays. Superb TV reception - didn't even have to reload channels. We're great fans of the Bridport area - only live less than an hour away - but looking out over some wonderful views and Colmers Hill was just delightful. We don't usually eat out, preferring BBQs at the van, but as we were with friends, we decided to have an evening meal on our first evening. So lucky to be able to get a table at the Manor House Hotel in West Bexington - a really terrific restaurant in the conservatory with sea view and incredibly reasonably priced. Loads of things to do around the area - as an artist, I love Sladers Yard and Art Unlimited galleries, but all the fascinating stalls around the Customs House emporium in West Bay are definitely worth a visit. Will definitely be back in the autumn/winter - just a great local getaway for us.

Lovely friendly site

What can I say. The owners made us feel very welcome. All pitches had electric water and drainage which makes a visit so much easier. Local area has a lot to offer plus your only a drive away from some beautiful coast line .Very peaceful and very relaxing. The amenities kept nice and clean. The campsite over looks the rolling hills which makes for a pleasant view . Very nice site.

A well organised CL by Alan and Gillian. With water. electricity and grey water drainage to each pitch there was nothing else to clear away except the toilet and waste at the end of our stay. The view south across the countryside to the south was beautiful and we relaxed from our journey easily (despite a 1.5 hour delay due to a crash at the A34 / M3 junction).Access to the site from the north looks rather tight so I'd recommend approaching from the south via Bridport, after which there are only a couple of tight but easily managed points. Bridport itself is a must see town with extensive markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays and a main street cafe culture if you want to watch the world go by. Further on is West Bay with a shingle beach and easy access to the Jurassic Coast.

A week in January 2023

Alan couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. It was generally a cold week with -2'C at night and 3 - 5 during the days , he found us some sacking to protect the water pipe.Toilet and waste disposal very clean and in good working condition. We even had snow while there. Beautiful walks, easy shopping in Bridport and trips to Hive Beach and West Bay very easy. Can't wait to revisit.

Great Place to Stay

Stopped over for 1 night at last minute. Alan very welcoming. Views from site beautiful. We were the only people staying but felt safe and secure. Toilet unlocked for us. Very clean. Minimal road noise. Will definitely return.

Another great visit to this CL

Home now after another stay (12 days) at this CL. Arrived in very wet weather conditions in late afternoon but soon got set up on pitch 1 as site was now full. Alan turned up later and gave us a nice welcome and allowed me to park our vehicle in the barn out of the way of other caravaners as not a lot of space with our 7-5metre caravan. Weather changed for the good and we had a lovely holiday visiting family and the coast around dorset and devon. Site grass kept mowed and picked up, toilet disposal area kept clean. Toilets not open when we arrived but not a problem as we use our own. Toilets opened by Alan when a camper with no facilities arrived. Lovely view towards Bridport and West Bay from all pitches. Keep an eye open for the Buzzards circling around and roosting in the trees also a deer feeds in the field in front of the pitches early morning. We also saw a barn owl fly along the front of the pitches one evening. Once again a great holiday at a great CL made even better by our friendly host with his chats and banter most nights. We have already booked again for a winter week. See you soon Alan many thanks B&B

A lovely place for a peaceful break

Just returned from four nights here. Spotlessly clean toilet, an indoor chemical toilet emptying facility. Daily cleaning. A friendly welcome was given & directions to avoid narrow lanes. We were delayed be a breakdown but Alan & Gillian were flexible & accommodating. Basic, just 5 hard standing pitches, water and ehu to each, not the largest pitches but adequate. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, one of the highlights was fish & chips from the van which visits the village hall next door every other Saturday, delicious! Many thanks Alan & Gillian.

Peace and tranquility .

Stayed here for a week in October and found the location to be just as previous reviews had stated which made it ideal for what we wanted. A great central location for access to the Jurassic coast and yet only 5mins from Bridport for supplies. The first few days of our stay were wet and windy, but each pitch is hardstanding with a good approach track, so no problems if you don't have a 4x4. Highly recommended.
