A relaxing, peaceful stay

We visited Bolton Hall in September 2019. Very pleased with our choice and our stay. Access drive quite narrow but adequate, even for our large 4X4 and twin axle caravan. Despite some rain, grass areas seemed well drained, no mud or ruts. Nice outlook over adjacent field, with caravans in a line overlooking it (plus 2 hardstandings off drive). There is a road along the bottom edge of the site, but shielded by a line of trees, and seemed little used, we were not disturbed by any noise from the occasional vehicle. Pleasant dog walks on footpaths, bridleways & tracks directly from the site. WCs are a short walk up the drive and adjacent to the house, basic facilities in outbuildings but clean and acceptable. The owners were very welcoming and were happy to offer as much or as little advice as needed regarding the site and the area, or just a friendly chat when passing. Very handy local shops with 5-10 mins drive at Gosforth (a local shop with wide range of goods), Holmrock (shop in petrol station), Seascale (local Co-op store with cash machine, and hardware store opposite sold caravan toilet chemicals). Supermarkets 25 mins or so drive at Whitehaven. Plenty of places to visit for dog walking, our favourites Wast Water, Ravenglass Villiage & shoreline, Seascale beach. The site provided everything we hope to find in a CL, and resulted in a peaceful, relaxing stay, we hope to return.
