Beautiful site

Stayed 17th August for a week. We just drive straight to pitch as it was pre-booked and pre-paid. Large pitches, with plenty of room between. Everything was spotless in the amenity block and every care taken to meet social distancing. The view was spectacular, especially with binoculars you could see the Spinaker Tower in Portsmouth. Plenty of places to visit but need to book some in advance. (Weald and Downland museum and Arundel Castle).

Simply stunning

Coming out of lockdown and staying at this site was amazing. The best site we have visited. Perfect for us in every way. Booked again before leaving. What more can we say. Thank you. Sally, Mike and Bracken (springer spaniel)

Beautiful Peaceful Site with Stunning Views

We spent a wonderful 4 nights at this beautiful site last weekend. We were on pitch 2 and had incredible views across the South Downs towards the coast and sea in the distance. Our pitch was imaculate as all of them are, with well kept grass between. (Ignore a previous review about this pitch - it was not like that at all). The showers and loos are in a log cabin together with washing machine and tumble dryer and were also clean to a very high standard. The owners are friendly and welcoming and we will definately come back to this site when we visit this area again.

Great Site

This is a lovely peaceful site with great views over Portsmouth and surrounding countryside. There is direct access to public footpaths and a pub within 25 minutes walk. You are about 6 miles from Chichester so a bit remote if you don’t have a car. The site facilities are excellent with two toilets and a shower room. All pitches have fresh water and grey water. There is also free WiFi. Will definitely return.

Beautiful place in the Southdowns

Lovely place with great views across the Southdowns. The best CL site so far for local dog walks. Quite, well kept and pretty.

Outstanding site

Have now been staying at the site regularly for six years now. During all of our stays we've never had any issues. Site is constantly maintained to the highest standard with fully serviced pitches. Thanks to Phil & Anita for yet another amazing break. Chris & Tina

Excellent CL

Wow, what a site. Fantastic views, so quiet all you could hear were birds and insects. Spotless pitches, that were well maintained, even the two recently moved forward. All pitches have a tap, grey waste disposal and EHU. The pitches (even the 3 'older ones') all easily fit a caravan, awning and vehicle on them. The shower was large and clean, as were the two toilets. Cannot comment on how good the shower was though as did not use it. Recycling available for most items. The WIFI signal & speed was excellent on all pitches. The price may be higher than some might expect for a CL, but this is a CL with fully serviced, very large hard standing pitches. Basically you are getting everything you would in a CAMC site, but with the bonus of there being only 5 units on site, fantastic views, lower prices than at a club site, WIFI included and adults only. What is not to like? In order to make the most of the views, most pitches are best with the caravan towards the middle, this means you will need a fairly long grey waste and water hoses. Pitch 4 has an electricity pole just off to the side of it. This in no way detracts from the pitch as the views are in the other direction. However, it could cause a bit of back and forth manoeuvring to get off the pitch if you do not have a motor mover, as you double back on yourself to get back on the track out. The road to the site was fine. If looking at street view the turn in from the B2141 from the Petersfield direction looks sharp, but actually it was fine in both directions, though you do have to use all the road. The entrance onto the track up to the site is wide and the track is concrete everything is well signed once through the gate. Phil is a great host, and is there if needed, but equally happy to leave you to get on with your holiday if you prefer. We will be back.

Perfect on pitches 4 and 5

Back from a fabulous 10 nights with friends. We visited 2 years ago and stayed on pitch 5. We booked early with friends and were on pitches 4 and 5 and it was fabulous. It was like private camping. Views are amazing. Great walks from the site including walks to pubs (uphill on the way back). We saw rabbits, deer, red kites and hares and it's so tranquil we slept late most mornings. Very relaxing time. Pitches 2 & 3 as previous reviewer has stated have been resituated this year (it is shown on their website) but I do agree that it looks a bit of a car park at the moment (also noticed sharp bits of tile and plastic in the hardcore) and would have been disappointed if we were on those. Would have been better for the old pitches 2 & 3 which are still there behind a stock fence to have been available whilst the new pitches become established. It's been very dry and the ground is stony. I'm sure they will be as nice as the other pitches in due course. Owner was friendly when we saw him which wasn't often but that suited us. Wifi was great allowing the boys to watch the UEFA cup final online (Liverpool fan very happy). We'll definitely be back!

Disappointing compared to our previous visit

We first visited this site in May 2018 and it reflected many of the comments of previous visitors, great views, nice big pitches and first class facilities. A perfect relaxing week away. We booked in November for a return trip in May 2019. Our hearts sank upon arrival. Unbeknown to us the owner had relocated pitches 2 and 3. We were allocated Pitch 2. Whilst the relocation was even better for the wide open views, the pitch itself was surrounded by rubble, the grass areas completely immature (probably due to the dry Spring) and was full of mud, sand and plastic bits. The “grass area” was certainly not a place where you could lay out your chairs and tables. These 2 pitches were a real contrast to the other 3 pitches that are unchanged. Given that we are all paying top CL prices for this site, the contrast is so huge you would feel as though you had the bad end of the deal. We were booked for the week, but we decided that we would stay one night and move on. The exchange with the owner was not entirely reasonable and didn’t clearly want to hear our views, and we were told to leave the site within the hour. We did, and unfortunately as much as 2018 was such a memorable time, we will not be returning.

Outstanding!

This is a fantastic cl in a really beautiful and tranquil location with excellent views and a great night sky when it is clear. The (hardstanding) pitches are large and widely spaced so there is no danger of feeling you are encroaching on any one else, and there is also a water supply and electric hookup at each pitch. The toilet/shower block is warm, bright and immaculately clean and there is also a washing machine and tumble dryer. The owner came over for a quick chat and to check that everything was ok whilst we were there but otherwise left us to enjoy our time. We are new to caravanning but Bowhill Farm has already become the standard by which we will judge cl sites going forward and we have already booked our next visit.
