Tranquil and friendly

As said previously this is an enormous site with grass pitches and EHU sited around the edges of the field. As per site details it’s slightly sloping in areas but that’s wasn’t an issue for us. We arrived on a wet day and set up near the facilities which were clean and convenient. We had a very friendly welcome from Andrew who was happy for us to call him if we had a problem. The views are gorgeous - the tranquility only disturbed by the occasional train - as we were a little set back facing the line we had a great view as they passed. Booked in for 3 nights - sadly had to leave a day early due to the shear volume of non stop rainfall which made pulling the van off the site an impossible task for our car. Apparently the worst rainfall in 25! Andrew was absolutely superb and came to our rescue pulling our caravan out of the field with his tractor. We would definitely return here but perhaps s little earlier in the season. We were visiting the NEC mMotorhome and Caravan show and the site is ideally situated.

Very basic

This is an enormous field which is a positive. However, the grass is covered in grass cuttings which get everywhere and are most annoying following rain or a heavy dew. The facilities are poorly maintained -they weren't cleaned at all whilst we were there. We were woken at 6 am by the Farmers dog barking at us and rummaging through our bin. At no time did we see the owners-the offer of being able to purchase eggs and sausages was non existent and the signs warning us not to go to the farm because of a dog that might nip your ankles were most unpleasant

Lovely little site

This is a lovely little site. Just turn up and pitch where you please. I think the entrance must have been improved because we were able to get well off the road to unlock the gate. The facilities are very clean and there is info on train times and the walking route to one of the local pubs. Tanworth is a lovely village with a good pub within walking distance. Although there is a train line nearby this isn’t too noisy and didn’t bother us at all. This is a CL site as one should be and we would definitely stay again if in the area.

Lovely site, even in the rain!

We were visiting the NEC to go to the Caravan and Motorhome Show, with the site being perfect situated for that purpose. We had travelled down from York through torrential rain and arrived just as the rain started to ease off, fortunately. The site is all grass on a sloping site, although it was quite easy to level our caravan particularly with large pieces of wood provided in a pile on the side of the field. As it was late October and it had been raining on and off for a couple of weeks, the grass was a little long, but of course it only became noticeable because the field was very, very wet. There are two toilets and a shower (on a meter) in the very clean and tidy, although open, toilet block, but when you consider this is a CL the facilities are excellent. I read a sign suggesting that home grown sausages and eggs were available, but as we were staying for such a short time, we missed out on that opportunity. The toilet block and area is where the grey waste disposal, Elsan waste, and waste bins are placed. The roads to and from the site are quite narrow, so care needs to be taken, but I have read a review commenting on the access to the site with concerns about holding up traffic on the road, it's possible that Kate and Andrew have made some adjustments but we certainly didn't have any problems. The exit is a bit more complicated as you have to leave the site down a gentle slope, and if solo you just have to make a very sharp left turn, with a small reverse, to make the turn as you almost turn back on yourself. When leaving with the caravan you have to drive into the farmyard, turn towards the house and then reverse the caravan into the yard and then drive out, it really is simple, loads of space and the only distraction for us were the sweet little Gloucester Old Spot piglets in their pen! This is a fabulous site that we will be using again.

This site is the reason why we bought a motorhome

Having had our motorhome for a few years we were not enjoying most of the normal larger sites that we had previously visited as they we a bit regimented. This site however was everything we used to dream of. Setting is perfect, easy to find, walking distance to a train station into Birmingham and Stratford, good pubs within walking distance, tranquil and with hosts that were very welcoming without being intrusive. We will certainly be back

Perfect Peace

Needed a stop on the way from Eurotunnel to Holyhead Ferry and wanted a quiet night's sleep. Delighted to find this CL as it gave us all we needed - good price and we got all the services we needed. 2 loos, 1 shower (£1 for 5 mins) and 1 hand basin plus a wash up sink. Bins and water waste if needed. It is a large area even if there were 5 vans (we were the only one!) and EHU and picnic benches for all. I will definitely keep it bookmarked. There are several pubs and food outlets close by if you don't fancy cooking. Kate was friendly when I rang to enquire and although we didn't meet it was clear that she was around if needed.

What a gem!

Enquired re Easter availability at rather the last minute only to find fully booked, but a couple of days later thrilled to get a phone call from Kate to say there had been a cancellation. Jumped at the chance to book! Arrived on a sunny Good Friday and driving down Tom Hill the site came into view….wow! A beautiful spacious mown grass field with very easy access through a padlocked gate, code supplied. Chose our pitch, hooked the motorhome up to electric and sat outside with a cuppa to take in the surroundings. Horses, sheep, birds, just wonderful. Second day walked into Tanworth in Arden which was not far, enjoyed a pint at The Bell overlooking the church and village Green. The following day walked through the fields to Woodend and sampled a pint at The Warwickshire Lad, again sat outside in glorious sunshine. Kate and Andrew are such a lovely welcoming couple, the site facilities are immaculate, although we always use our own, fresh eggs and sausages are available. Despite there being a railway line and the lane close by, the passing of trains and traffic was not at all intrusive and would readily return to this site. 10/10 to Kate and Andrew.

Newly opened CL with good facilities but significant access issues

I had read all the very positive reviews for this new site, which we then decided to use as an overnight stop en route from Dorset to Yorkshire. Admittedly conditions were far from ideal, following heavy rain which returned for the morning of our departure, on the last day of the site being open for the year. Much investment has been put into providing a new toilet and shower block, but there are still serious issues to be addressed over access to the site. Firstly there is an error in the directory stating the site is on the left, but it is on the right of the lane. The signed entrance has a combination lock, the code of which we were not given before arriving, and the off road space before the gate is barely long enough for most outfits, meaning that visitors may need to stop on the lane, holding up traffic, while the gate is opened. In our case, Kate met us at the farm entrance and guided us in that way. However, the direction of the track into and out of the CL is towards the farmyard, so it was necessary to turn the outfit round by reversing. It is possible to drive across the field to leave by the gate with the lock, but a notice in the CL suggests leaving by the track to the farmyard and turning round, as we had already done on arrival. The access really does need to be replanned so that either the lock is removed from the gate on the road and left open, or a new opening created into the CL at such an angle that caravans and motorhomes can drive in directly from the farm track. It would be a pity if all the investment in facilities is not matched by much improved access.

Superb Site

We stayed here for 5 nights in early August and this was our first stay here, we were visiting family in Birmingham and Wolverhampton and it was very convenient to get onto the motorway networks whilst enjoying the rural location. What a lovely welcoming couple Kate and Andrew are. There were some roadworks the day we were arriving and we had to take a slightly different route. We were a little lost but Kate came along and found us in her farm vehicle and escorted us to the site. It’s a lovely spacious field with super views with grazing sheep. We much prefer CL sites as we find them more peaceful and welcoming and this ticked all the boxes. We shall definitely return!
