Excellent site - what a CL should be!

We are just home from a great visit at Brooklands. Judith and her son William are fantastic hosts. We were allowed to pitch up where we wanted and ended up in a quiet part of the site with a field on one side of us and a lovely fishing lake on the left. Toilets are clean and there's good waste and recycling facilities. The site is a five minute drive from a shop and 15 mins from Scarborough and everywhere else! We will definitely be back!

Only fish I caught had batter on it.

Writing this as we are currently pitched up. Staying for 14 nights from 2nd April 2023. A fabulous greeting from the owner Judith and her son William. Access is a little tight as others have mentioned, if you know what you’re doing it’s not a problem. Twin axle van with Disco 4 made it round no problem. Cracking pitch in the old orchard with a pond in the middle. A nice touch that the owner informed us a couple of days before we arrived that the ground could be soft due to excessive rain during March - it didn’t prove to be a problem and the sun made an appearance when we arrived, so happy days. We are looking forward to exploring the area and catching some fish with batter, maybe a few chips to boot. You don’t have to be a fisherman to stay here, but I suppose those that do like to fish it would be ideal.

Nice site but needs updating.

We stayed at Brooklands for 5 Nights, it is a very nice quiet little site apart for some road noise, owners were very welcoming and considerate. On arrival it was easy to find and the start of driveway is clear with notice board, first part of driveway was ok but there is a 90degree bend with bank on off side and hedge on near side, although I took a full swing with front wheel of car on the bank the near side of caravan (8m x 2m) scrapped along the hedge, thankfully no damage. There are a number of apple trees to contend with all with low branches, my wife had to hold back branch so it didn’t scratch caravan. There is only one old fashioned outside brick toilet with no other facilities i.e for washing, that said we would stay here again for a short break. The fishing was ok, lake needs a lot of work to remove fallen branches, over hanging branches etc and with the number of trees around lake my guess is there will be a lot of fallen leaves in bottom. To start with I fished method feeder on the bottom with no bites, I guessed the fish couldn’t see the hook bait so I changed to a pop up on 3” hook length and finished day with seven good size carp, weighing in around 8lb each, not bad for a cold frosty January. Lake is normally closed for winter but the owner allowed me to fish while we were there with caravan.

Brooklands caravan site break, fishing, walking and relaxing

Just stayed at this little site for 4 nights. Apart from a little bit of road noise, which you dont notice after a while, it is an excellent site. The owner is lovely and welcoming and gave us a choice of pitches on arrival. The toilet was available to use (there are no showers). Good position for visiting the area and close to Scarborough. Fishing was very good, quiet and relaxing, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will definitely be back.

A great little CL site with graet fishing

Just got back from three nights at Brooklands, a very warm welcome from the owner and her son Will on arrival. Its a very well kept site with 5 large pitches set among an orchard with a small ornamental pond in the middle. I spent three very peaceful afternoons on the fishing pond and caught some lovely fish including Ghost carp and Barble, the pond and surrounding area is very well kept by Will. There is a lovely riverside walk just across the road from the site where we were able to walk our dogs for several miles without seeing a soul. Pickering, Malton and Scarborough are only a short drive and Whitby is only 45 mins. A small amount of noise from the road that passes the site but then if there were no road you wouldn't be able to get there.

Will certainly be going back.

Pretty little site

We stayed for three nights May Day Bank holiday. This CL. Is lovely, situated In an orchard. the bird song and variety of birds is amazing! The pitches are big and the adjacent fish pond is kept beautiful. There is some traffic noise during the day,but the noise died down during the evening. The owner is friendly and helpful. If there is a downside, the grass is a little long and there are no walks from the site.

Great CL

Spent six nights here in May. The CL is in the orchard and there's plenty of room between pitches. The lady owner was very nice and helpful. The road that passes the site is quite busy early morning but after that the site is nice and peaceful. Good access to Pickering,Malton and Scarborough (use the Park and Ride at Seamer). The fishing on the pond was excellent when we were there. We would certainly visit again.

A quiet stop over for us

We stopped here on a Saturday night in June 2012 on our way back from Whitby. It was a wonderfully peaceful site in comparison to the busy half term Whitby. There had been a lot of rain prior to our visit and the kind lady running it showed us that the ground was pretty wet and slippery so she was happy for us to park up our motor-home on the gravel of the driveway adjacent to the farmhouse which overlooked the orchard which was the Caravan Club CL site. There was a handy hookup available so we were quite comfy. There is a fishing lake at the farm which local anglers use and of course caravaners who no doubt book here for the fishing. A previous reviewer mentioned a busy road adjacent to the site. The country lane that runs past the farm was far from busy when we stayed there. The farm had at the time another small field which it used for non Caravan Club members but we were only aware of it when we went for a walk and it in no way impeded onto the CL site. Due to the rural location I would advise everyone to take note of the owners directions, as the postcode when put into a sat nav only brought us to a point a about mile from the farm itself.

Poor CL

Poor site next to noisy road. The site’s website shows a pond in the middle of the CL when I was there the pond was empty and just an overgrown weedbed. The site was £12 per night but advertised on website at £9.50
