Why is this such a popular CL?

Why is this such a popular CL? Could it be that the owners care about their visitors and the quality of your stay, or that they really care about the environment on the farm, or is it the Countryside walks, the riverside walks or the views across the estuary? Go and visit the Llama and the Pot bellied pigs (and they will be your bestest friends ever, well until your fruit & veg peelings run out.) Perhaps it could be the open views from your caravan, one side is protected by trees, or the sun rises, or the dark night sky where on a clear night you can view the Milky Way and watch meteorites. We did all the above in October. Thank you Adrianne

Beautiful, peaceful and quiet

Thank you for our fantastic stay on your beautiful farm. We had a lovely time - and thoroughly enjoyed how peaceful it was. We enjoyed having the horses in the neighbouring field to keep us entertained. We especially enjoyed being able to walk easily into town along the seawall or road - about twenty minutes walk. The market in the town on Tuesday was a great hit - we bought lots of lovely fresh fruit and veg! Our dogs enjoyed their stay too - much like a boot camp for them! Thanks again! We will be back :)

What a lovely site a short walk form the village of Burnham on Crouch

This is a lovely site that we stayed at a couple of months ago with our 2 dogs and have stayed at a few times before. It is well worth a visit as there is so much more room on the pitches than another site in the village. The site has a toilet and shower. It is a short walk into Burnham on Crouch which has a lovely river front and sea wall walk and several pubs and restaurants. Book early as this is a very popular site. All in all another lovely stay. Thank you.

We love this site

If you’re after tranquility and relaxation, look no further than Burnham Wick CL. We absolutely love this site and have returned for a week, for our fourth visit. The site is flat and well laid out. You have a choice on your pitch of sunny, or shaded under the trees. All pitches have EHU and there is a convenient water tap. We especially enjoy the views here, across wide open spaces and the lovely big skies. We enjoy bird watching and seeing the beautiful horses. I recommend walking into Burnham, take the river path and enjoy views across the River Crouch and beyond. We loved Adrienne’s beautiful wlld flowers, which she recommended we look out for. We will be back.

Burnham Wick Farm

Just can't keep away from this CL I love the ethos of the place, the green credentials, the whole farm and CL run on renewable energy, parts of the productive farmland turned over to wildlife with seed head areas, scrapes and the reservoir. As always a lovely welcome from Adrienne and Martin to the peace and quiet of their farm. On Wednesday Adrienne surprised us when she trundled her wheel barrow on site full of sponge cakes for her visitors, a lovely kind, generous gesture and much appreciated. I have written previously about the facilities on site so no need to go there again. Burnham on Crouch is a 20/30 minute walk away and with a station and bus service plus, shops, pubs and eateries is OK for both Caravanners and Motorhomes. There is so much to see and do here and the information room is full of up to date brochures including local walks. Added interest last week was provided by the busy harvest activity taking place More POI described in the story: https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/your-stories/oneputt/the-dengie-peninsular/ Unfortunately I can't provide a live link

A great CL

We stayed at this site for just one night. Adrienne gave us a very friendly welcome, as did a couple in one of the other pitches. The information caravan provided very useful local details, together with instructions and envelopes for pitch payment to pop through the farm house door if the owners weren't available. The pitches are of a generous size, and the field was fairly level. We pitched away from the trees adjacent to the field (with wonderful horses) and the electric cable stretched easily to the hook up. There is also a shared water pipe. We took the path across the fields and along the sea wall for a decent walk into town. We also walked up to Burnham Yacht Harbour where we were able to take our dog into Swallowtails bar. They are extremely dog friendly in there! We walked back via the road from town, which was shorter. We had a lovely break away, when we visit again we will stay more than one night. A superb CL site!

Great Rural Location

We stayed for 3 days and were welcomed in a friendly and open manner, information room has lots to help you enjoy the area and all we needed was within walking distance. The dogs enjoyed the location too. We did have planes going over low at night but last one was at 11pm 'ish' so not an issue was just surprised and noticed due to quietness of the site. Shared toilet and a shower available, toilet emptying also near the toilet. On the actual site there was electrics and water available. No lights in camp area so take a torch..:) Enjoyed out stay despiet two out of three days was raining..

Splendid CL

I was pleased we finally made this cl. First booked last autumn we had to cancel because of health problems so now I finally arrived. The farm website gives a good story of the farm that makes you want to go. The good points about this site, and there are many, are really what others have said. A very warm welcome from Adrienne who actually remembered my previous booking. Flat field with very large pitches and you can pitch which way you want as long as you stay in the middle of the pitch. The 5 vans on site all pitched along the fence on the open side of the site. The EHU’s are on the opposite side along the tree line but a standard 25 metre cable reaches them ok. The old static caravan at the field entrance doubled up as the information centre, library, DVD library and reference books on wildlife were brilliant. The walks around the farm are numerous and the one back into Burnham along the defensive wall has lots of interest. Shortest route though is by the road. The wildlife on the farm causes a topic of conversation from the many different types of horses in the field to the Alpacas, Llama and pot bellied pigs, who befriended my wife because she fed them fruit and veg but the two stars who stole the show during our visit where the hares. Alas we didn’t see the owl but heard the cuckoo, even at 11pm at night. That was a new one on me. The day we were leaving saw the arrival of the swallows. The biggest draw however, without doubt, was the darkness and quite at night. A slight downside through the day was the planes coming into Southend airport; however we are used to this being under the flight path to East Midlands. They did stop around 11pm, The driving instructions are exact and the homemade signs on the final approach keep you on course. Overall, this cl deserves its success because of the location and the way it is run and for the price of £12.50 I am sure it will be busy so best to book.

Great return to Burnham

Having lived in Burnham for 30 years but moved away 15 years ago it was great to be back in the area. Arrival was straightforward with all necessary info on the outside of the information room at the entrance to the field. When we reported in to Adrienne we found her to be very helpful and she had up-to-date advice on some of the local hostelries. The field is flat and there is plenty of room - there was only our unit plus one other during our stay but, even when full it shouldn't be crowded. Water is centrally located and all plots have EHU although if you want to park away from the trees then you will need to run you cable across the field. We parked near to the trees but still had sun to sit in until late afternoon. The town is a 20 minute walk from the site and there are lots of eateries/pubs mostly down the bottom (nearest) part but with others up the road towards the station. There is a good sized Co-op near the station and a Tesco Express and one-Stop further down together with many other local shops and a small cinema. Out of town there is the Mangapps Railway Museum with its ¾ mile of track and the city of Chelmsford is about 30 minutes away by car. The RHS Hyde Hall Gardens are also nearby by car. All in all we had a great time and we would certainly book here again if in the area.
