A delightful CL

We spent several days the this CL, and really could not fault it. The pitches are set along one side of a south-facing field, with views beyond. There is certainly plenty of room to stretch out, and it is ideal for dog-owners in particular. The large pitch area was nicely mown, and the remainder of the field had been cut for hay-making a few days before our arrival. Charlton St Peter is a tiny hamlet of around 70 people. The pub, the Charlton Cat up on the main road, is open Friday to Sunday evenings and can be reached on foot from the site. Don't be put off by its slightly shabby exterior - it's a really nice, traditional pub inside. Probably the best thing about this site is its peace and tranquility. Although it is on Salisbury Plain and therefore subject to some military over-flying, we did not find this at all intrusive. It is very convenient for Avebury Stone Circle, Marlborough, Devizes and so on. Nice owners who are working hard to make this 2-year old site successful. Thoroughly recommended!

Lovely peacefull friendly site

We have just returned from a long weekend stay at this wonderful large site set in the beautiful, peaceful Vale Of Pewsey. Mr and Mrs Fowle and family made us feel at home and were very friendly and welcoming. The area boasts lots of opportunity to walk our dog with places to visit at the end. With Devises and Marlborough within a 10 mile radius there are plenty of things to see and do.Great CL for a quiet relaxing break with lots of space, we will definately return

Vale of the White Horse in the sun

The site is in a large, level, open, south facing grass field with a line of trees on the north boundary. The upper reaches of the river Avon flow around the site. There are several footpath walks from the site with plenty of opportunity for spotting flora and fauna. Charlton St. Peter is a pleasant hamlet and the nearest village is Rushall (15 min walk) from where I believe there is a bus route. The nearest road is 1/2 mile away and the site is very peaceful and tranquil. We received a very friendly welcome and will certainly return for a peaceful and relaxing break.

Away from it all

Picked with a pin, we could not have chosen better for a peaceful break on a rural CL, with views of Salisbury Plain, sheep and a chocolate-box village. Take your own wine and beer as the local hostelry is closed (not within easy walking anyway, so nothing lost there), and "Mine Hosts" do a good line in field mushrooms around St Goerge's Day. Delightful.

Happy Time

Just got back from 5 days here. We were made welcome from the start and the dog too! Very friendly and well set up site. Lovely views, lots of room, rabbits to chase and even had a visit from a green woodpecker. We had a really nice meal just up the road at The Millstream in Marden, staff there really friendly too. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend this site to our friends. Phil,Jackie and the dog!

Lovely LocalPlacesOfInterest & Welcoming Owners

We have just returned after spending six days on this very peaceful site. The site is part of a six acre field which backs onto a row of trees, the electrical hook-ups are well spaced out, grass nice & short and the south facing views are towards Salisbury Plain & through the trees you can see the White horse in the distance. The owners Tim & Alma were very courteous and paid a visit when we had pitched up to ask if all was OK. Good dog walking site, in the next field you can join the White Horse Trail. We had a very restful weekend here and will be back in the future to be entertained by the pheasants running around the field.

Lovely owners.

This is really out in the sticks! We had a one night stay here as it was near Avebury and Stonehenge. We only wish we had been staying longer. The owner and his son were very friendly and helpful. The nearest pub is currently for sale and only open Friday to Sunday. There were others nearby, cycling distance at least. We woke up to a pheasant wandering by, shortly followed by a rabbit!
