So good I am reluctant to review in case it makes it too popular for me to book again

A wonderful site of only five pitches with beautiful views in an easily accessible quiet location. Each pitch has water and electricity, there is a drive over waste water point and a facility to empty the toilet cassette. The husband and wife owners provide a warm and friendly welcome and on this occasion John even came to jump start our vehicle when the battery had run down. We will definitely be using this site again when we want to visit the Salcombe area.

Excellent

We have just come back from Cholwells Farm (Oct 30th 2020) and my experience was that the owners were excellent, very accommodating and very helpful. The weather was not great but it was made easier as each pitch had its own water supply so we didnt need to go outside to refill. The location is fantastic and in easy reach of the beaches, Salcombe, Kingsbridge, Slapton and Dartmouth. Knowing the area fairly well, I was concerned about access down the lanes, but this site is very easy to access with only approx a 200 yard narrow lane leading up to it, but still very easy to access. There is a large farm entrance opposite the field that we used to turn around in and we have a large estate car and a 6m caravan and we could turn in one. This meant we could could turn right into the field. On exit we turned left and did the turn again as I think this is an easier approach, however you probably dont need to do this. The entrance to the field has compacted gravel for traction for about 15m which helps. The field itself has a gentle slope and is all grass but if it is very wet I think I would rather be in a 4x4 to get to the back pitch. I cant fault this site and I certainly would recommend and I look forward to coming back soon.

So good we went twice

Perfect site and lovely owners. Enjoyed it so much we decided to return in the same month, mainly because with a camper you need a car as well to see all the wonderful sights. Sally and John are excellent hosts. Can't recommend this sight more highly, in fact we are planning another visit next year.

Beware the Taxman!

Nice site with good facilities, although farm-related buildings opposite can be noisy. Members need to be aware that VAT is charged in addition to the stated nightly rate!

The Perfect Site!

I am not sure that I should post this, as I could make the site so popular that I will not get in next year!

Well what a gem of a site. A long narrow field with caravans well separated. Each pitch has EHU and water.  There is a very slight slope to the site! When we arrived the owner made us feel very welcome when she came to check all was well!

Views are amazing, if you brave the farthest pitch from the gate, we did, there are excellent views over Thurlstone beach, albeit a couple of miles away. It was also a windy pitch at times! The other pitches, which are well protected from the prevailing south west wind by a high hedge, have views over glorious Devon Countryside.

Access is very easy off the road from Kingsbridge to Salcombe.

A real selling point for me is that this is a working farm, and I very much enjoyed watching the farm workers on their tractors bringing in the harvest!   We were staying in the depths of the countryside so some noise from farming has to be expected!

I very much hope that we will be back again next summer!

Thanks for running such a lovely peaceful CL

Excellent site to visit Salcombe

Just returned after a couple of nights in our Motorhome. The site is easy to find, only a very short narrow lane off main road. Lovely well mowed field, with tap and electric for each pitch. Plenty of space with lovely countryside views.  Salcombe is a nightmare for parking in the summer and a no no for a Motorhome. Just walked the very short lane to main road and hopped on the local bus Salcombe-Kingsbridge service which runs every hour, cheaper than car parking! Owners really nice and friendly, they just called last morning for payment, so cheap! If there was a slight negative, had noise from tractors nearby early morning, but then this is Devon countryside at its best! ...we shall be booking again.

A veritable Jewel of a CL

Despite caravanning for well over 30 years I have not tended to use many CL's because of their initial very basic nature. However as club sites have got dearer and dearer and more and more CL's began to offer electric hook ups I began to use them. But Cholwells farm is by far the best I have ever experienced! Set in beautiful rolling farmland the site offers not only electric hook ups, but also water and wast disposal to every pitch! Situated only about 100 yards from the main A381 Kingsbridge to salcombe Road it is easily accessed. Advance booking is essential. I was the only first timer there. All the others told me that they use it every year. The owner is very pleasant and I am unable to offer any negative aspects. Cost £10 per night plus VAT so £12 in total even at high season. 1st class and highly recommended tigerfish
