Breathtaking views

We booked to stay here for 2 nights and stayed for 6! The views from the site are breathtaking even when the weather is not at its best. The hard standing was ideal for our motorhome and we had no problem erecting our pup tent, using hard ground pegs. The piles of earth etc that the previous reviewer mentioned are going to be used to fill in a boggy area, and did not detract from the otherwise glorious views. The owner Steve is a great character and took us down to the local pubs to sample the ales!. The site is situated in an area with many varied places of interest nearby. We have booked to come back later this month

In need of a little TLC

As stated views are great provided sun shines. All hard standing and this caused problems erecting porch awning as stones had spread under grass, making pegs impossible to fix, high winds causing problems with securing, had to use wooden leveling blocks to keep in place. Grass very long but this did mean the mud was covered to a degree. Site felt a bit run down and in need of some attention, shame about the piles of earth and equipment near the barns.

One of the best

Visited 01122013 (second time this year). Nothing has changed but it doesn't need to. Stunning views, really friendly owner, great local hostelries and close to many places of interest.

Back again.....

Everything that has been written is true. This is an outstanding CL with and outstanding owner. We stayed back in July and have just been back this weekend. Steve is brilliant, lift to the pub, very welcoming. We will be back again....and again....and again!!

Beautiful

The first thing you notice upon entering the site is the wonderful vista in front of you, a breathtaking scene with views as far as the Breacons. The second thing is Steve, who welcomes everyone with a big smile. We have never been made more welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Lots of information is given regarding where to go and what to see. The site is peaceful and has lots of castles within easy reach, we stayed for 2 weeks and never ran out of places to visit. There are walks on the doorstep or just sit and watch the wildlife, we saw plenty of buzzards and even a red kite on a couple of days. The slightly mad dog that we own was made welcome too and made friends with the locals. This site ticks all the right boxes for a wonderful short break or longer holiday. Thanks Steve :-) Definitely one to return to.

A jem of a site

Can't fault the welcome to the site by Steve and his wife. Views are stunning with fantastic walks locally. Nice pub in Llanishen (Carpenters Arms), don't be surprised if Steve invites you for a visit. Overall a brilliant CL.

Superb site situated in a walkers paradise

This site must have the best views in the country. Well positioned on a quiet country lane, this site has everything you need. Steve the owner could not be more helpful. The country pubs he recommends are great for food and for the choice of real ales. We were booked in for 5 nights but ended up staying seven, and we are going back for May bank holiday, as we still haven't seen all the places we wanted to visit.

fantastic views

Visited late February 2013......This site represents all that is good about a CL. The owner is extremenly helpful and friendly, with an excellent local knowledge. The views are really superb (even on a fairly dull day) Access to local towns is very good with a half hourly train service to Cardiff. Some car parks in Chepstow and Monmouth are free. There is an excellent pub nearby which the site owner frequents. Ask him nicely and he might even take you there on a Friday evening!!.......the pitching needs a bit of attention but once you've accomplished it (with levelling blocks provided) you just sit back and take in the scenery. All services are readily to hand.
