Lovely

Large flat meadow with plenty of space between pitches. Very convenient for days out to Canterbury and surrounding areas. Lovely village nearby with a couple of good pubs that serve great food. The local farm shop, artisan bakery and butchers is a must. We have stayed here several times, so it must be good!

Beware of WDP

A lovely large, flat field with easy access to Canterbury and the very easy to use and efficient park and ride. The electric worked well, with good ampage, the water was convenient and there was a bin and recycling at each pitch. However, the site was let down by the disposal area; it was clean enough, but huge swarms of horseflies descended when my husband used it. He came back to the van with approximately 11 bites, some of which were very noxious and made large bumps on his skin. If you want to stay more than three nights, then take this into consideration.

Enjoyable week in July

Generally a lovely large site for those of us who like sitting in a field and enjoying the countryside. The field has rabbits, the inevitable pigeons and a pair of ravens. Fairly peaceful week in July, motorhome dramas aside. This site was not the easiest to find despite comprehensive instructions. There were several mirrors on driveways and the old people sign was huried behind the hedge. The road from Bekesbourne is very narrow with overhanging tresss and bushes. The owner arrived with a fact sheet which was useful. There is a small CCTV camera by the gate which gave us some comfort. The field itself is just that, a field, not a lawn, but this was fine by us. The are 4 EHUs fairly close together on one side of the field with the fifth on the far side between the rubbish bins and the WDP. The train could not really be heard, but the steam train was a treat. We pitched closer to the neighbours, and had to put up with their swearing and the noisy yappy dog on occasion. We visited Canterbury by train as the station was only 15 minute walk down the hill. Took the stress out of trying to find somewhere to park the mh. The WDP point was not the best we used and as we're tall the overhanging trees were an issue. Would we go back. Yes, most of the above are minor and we enjoyed our stay.

Large flat site with a warm welcome. Narrow approach road which widens after a short distance

We spent 5 nights at Cobbs Meadow. Our welcome was lovely and friendly and we were given an information sheet which was handy and we had a nice chat. There is a pony and 2 donkeys in the next field which we were delighted about as they were interesting to watch. There was plenty of space between pitches - huge in fact, even when there was 5 of us. We walked to the village of Bridge which was a lovely walk where there was a Londis shop for essentials, a couple of pubs and even a fish and chip van when we went. The village is pretty, the church is so picturesque and we came back via Patrixbourne which was so pretty as well especially with the wisteria on the converted Oast house (this walk was about 2.5 miles each way). We also walked towards the outskirts of Canterbury which took us just over 30 mins although I imagine it was another 30 mins to the very centre but we were leaving that day so didn't have time. I know the people next to us walked into Canterbury 2 days running so very do-able. The field was flat, it did stay quite wet underfoot after the rain but its a field so is to be expected I'd imagine but I'm not sure how it would be in the winter. The approach road from Bekesbourne is narrow at the bottom, we were lucky on our way in and didn't meet anyone where it was narrow but were unfortunate enough to meet about 6 people on the way out down the lane which was a bit hairy as we are newbies but people did back up... thankfully. Would we go again? ABSOLUTELY! Was great for touring the south, east and North coasts of the area. We covered Canterbury, Whitstable, Tankerton, Herne Bay, Reculver Towers, Broadstairs, Kingsgate Bay and Botany Bay - just the most perfect bays - note Kingsgate Bay is dog friendly where many others are not from May-Sep, Chillam, Godmersham and Hythe. We had a busy 6 days :D

Overpriced for standard of site

Visited Cobbs Meadow for 4 nights over the Mayday Bank Holiday Weekend Felt the site was overpriced at £20. The total number of units on site did go up to 7 on one night The description says there is WIFI and an information shed. No sign of either. The grass was overlong and where it had been mown, the cuttings had not been collected. This meant that after it rained, the aquarolls were plastered in grass cuttings after dragging across the field There was some road noise from 'speeding traffic' but did not really cause a problem Was nice to hear the dawn chorus from Howletts when the wind was in the right direction

Great for a short break in Kent

Nice site tucked away a walkable distance from Canterbury. There's a Park & Ride a short distance from the site for non-walkers. The owner (who lives offsite) is friendly and calls most afternoons to empty the bins and keep the site shipshape. The only slight downside is the adjacent very narrow rat-run lane which can, on occasion, be noisy with boy racers. The London-Dover rail mainline is on the other side if the site but we could hardly hear it.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for your review and we are glad you liked the CL Site. We would just like to reassure you that the road noise is not normally a concern and was caused by ill timed road works which were taking place during your stay.

Easiest Site I've Booked Excellent Layout

Booked for 4 nights over May Bank Holiday. So easy to book, very nice quite, clean large site. The 5 Vans are very far from each other. The Owner, Mrs Ash, absolute gem, no hassle, keeps site very clean and she remove rubbish daily. Very easy communications, paid on line, just turned up and chose our spot. Little noisy near the road that passes, but being a "Country Lane" hardly any traffic at night. Plus the field is so big you can be away from road if you wish. Really enjoyed our stay and of course with Canterbury 2 miles away, much to see and do. Excellent.

Nice location

We enjoyed our five night stay at Cobbs Meadow. Just a short drive into the City or the shopping outlets, but we used the Park and Ride,so much better. The site is spacious with loads of room between pitches, the water taps (2) one by the gate, the other near the railway, they are if your pitched nearer the road a good walk across the large field. The road is narrow and very busy but is quieter at night..Take care when leaving the site. Many of the roads around the area are used as rat runs and are very busy for narrow roads. The railway was no trouble at all,you wouldn't know it was there. We tried a few of the footpath walks and they were nice. Overall we had a nice holiday and would stay here again if in the area.

Smashing Little Location

Stayed here for two nights on the weekend of 28-30 June 2019. Booked and paid in advance which was really easy. £13.50 a night including EHU. Field is flat and sits between a minor road and a train line, minimal noise which had no impact on us. Cross country footpaths right beside the site. We had planned to walk into Canterbury but with the temperature in the 30s we gave it a miss and walked ten minutes to Bekesbourne station, train took 5 minutes to reach Canterbury East. Location wise you cant beat it for easy access into Canterbury We had the added bonus of a Spitfire doing barrel rolls above us on Saturday afternoon, the noise of those engines magnificient. Will definitely be back

Love this CL

We have visited Cobbs Meadow several times with our 2 Springers and have always found it to be a place we want to return to. The owner is both friendly and helpful. There is a public footpath practically opposite the site entrance which leads into fields and woodland and is ideal for running our dogs off lead as it is safe for them. The site itself is very spacious with adequate facilities. There is a railway line set down behind the site but it can't be seen and is not particularly audible from the site. The lane on which the site is set can be a bit busy in the rush hour but soon quietens down and isn't particularly noisy at other times. We love this site..for us it is a place to unwind and relax. However, it is a good base to visit Canterbury and other attractions as it is possible to walk to the station from the site or even walk into Canterbury which takes about 50 minutes. Thank you Mrs. Ash for all the times we have enjoyed being at Cobbs Meadow. We will be back again. Bob & Shirley Ellis
