This is a great site and we have previously always rated as 5 stars.
But there are now a few problems:-
- The cost is £18, not £15 as stated.
- The owner is not able to manage the site herself and relies upon favour and occasional help from others; therefore access is now restricted as bushes are not being cut back, neighbours park vehicles opposite that make turning impossible etc. The bins are not emptied frequently enough - all depends when the helpers can help! In general you get the feeling that the fee is taken but there is little to no investment back into the site.
- To empty the toilet cassette you are requested to only do this after 5pm and have to enter the owners garden. Her dog erupts in constant barking as you empty your cassette down a simple manhole cover with string tied to it.
- There are often more than 5 units staying at the site - I thought that CL sites were restricted to 5?
Still a lovely CL.
Haven't used this CL for at least 7 years pretty local to me iam pleased to say its still lovely great walks from site and super for cycling .
We would highly recommend .
Fab CL
Stayed here for 6 nights beginning of April.
As soon as we pulled onto the site we felt completely at home.
Loads of room around the pitches, from our pitch you could see the sea.
Goldhanger is a lovely village with two pubs in walking distance and a village hall. We went to the Chequers pub on a couple of occasions, its an old pub full of character and great atmosphere. The cl is close to many places of interest, we particularly liked Maldon and Mersea Island. If you like walking you can walk along the sea wall from the village in either direction.
Would recommend the site to everyone it was lovely.
Excellent peaceful site
Just returned from a 3 night break here - it was one of the most peaceful and relaxing CL sites we have ever visited. Plenty of space all around you and it's all well kept and managed. Perfect for dog walks with the coastline being within a 10 minute walk. Beautiful clear water and very picturesque. This was our second visit and we just don't know why we haven't visited more! We shall definitely be visiting again.
First outing after lockdown
What a lovely tranquil site this is. We ventured out after lockdown and this was absolutely the best place to be.
Everything had been explained on the phone & although we didn't meet the owner during our visit it wasn't a problem. Better at this time for us to all keep our distance.
A flat, beautifully kept large site with plenty of room between units, sun and shade available according to the weather.
Wipes, sanitiser etc available when using the tap and chemical disposal.
We found our follow caravanners pleasant and informative, most seemed to have stayed on the site before and not travelled a great distance.
Easy walk for our dogs to get onto the seawall for a good gallop, plenty of interesting places to visit nearby.
We found a gem at Elm Farm Park,on Haybridge Approach, not easy to find, parking abysmal but the park itself is a little gem, you can also cross over the bridge and walk to Beefalls or Haybridge Basin in the other direction along the towpath. A lake for the dogs to cool off in, we all thought it was wonderful.
Great fish and chips takeaway from the pub opposite, even goodies for the dogs.
Well worth a visit.

A Lovely well kept site with lots of trees for shade and plenty of space to park and not be too near other caravans and the site was easily accessible . It is a really nice area with a couple of nice pubs and plenty of nice walks. We will definitely return!
Fantastic site. Lovely owner. Goldhanger is a lovely place to stay
What a great site to stay at. Very easy going. Pam (the owner) is a lovely lady and her site is very well kept. There is a nice pub, The Cricketers just across the road from the caravan site. We went to this pub and it is very nice. Nice people running the pub. Great beers and food. A short drive away is Maldon, which is a lovely town. We had a lovely weekend at this caravan site and so did our dog. The weather was nice and warm. Thank you Pam. We look forward to seeing you next year. Louise.
Perfect & peaceful
Very easy going but excellent facilities. Everything was in good shape and easy to use.
Surrounding area is lovely with superb food available at the The Chequers
A lovely, well kept site
We stayed here for a long weekend earlier in July and loved it. It's a very spacious site with planted trees providing good shade if needed and all the pitches are good. It's nice and quiet, very dog friendly - all 5 caravans had at least one dog - and you do pick up a very slight coastal breeze which was very welcome in the hot weather this year. Our family came to visit for a day with small granddaughter and there was plenty of room to run around without bothering the 'neighbours'. We found a small manmade lagoon at nearby Tollesbury Marina for a leisurely free paddle.
The owner is very helpful and friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. Lovely walks to the sea wall which does run all the way to Maldon if you want to walk, there's a good bus service back to Goldhanger!
We will definitely be returning.

Fantastic site for a relaxing and easy stay
This was our first ever experience of caravanning!
The site is well laid out and well kept, with all facilities easy to hand.
The owners are completely laid back and lovely to deal with - so relaxed.
The other people on the site were friendly and respectful of space - we just couldn't have asked for more.
